Lovely way to start my Saturday. I’d love a what’s in my bag video. Don’t sweat the lack of B roll. You do such a nice job editing that even stay at home time is fun to watch. Interested to hear your final thoughts on List of Suspicious Things. It’s been on my list for a year 😂 but I’ll have to order it from the UK (and I’m cheap).

Earl is just a superstar!! 🌟 I’d love to start reading poetry but no idea where to begin! There is so much out there. I know I don’t like it being overly pompous tho. Studying poetry, mostly Shakespeare, scarred me! I’m loving these vlogs, been looking forward to it all week 😅 Off to curl up and finish Stone Yard Devotional now…which I’m loving!! 🥰

A Friday vlog to do dinner prep to works just as well as a Sunday vlog! A delight. I have A List of Suspicious Things in paperback from Blackwell’s and now you’ve made me want to read it sooner rather than later. Whitehead’s novels pack a punch so I’m not surprised you found The Intuitionist dense but I think he’s just a brilliant writer. What hard work it is sorting out the library!!! Luckily there are cats to keep you company!
@SavidgeReadsКүн бұрын
If only the cats would help me in my sorting though Cindy! Hahaha. Totally agree Colson is a very good writer, I do think sometimes (well with this and the Underground Railroad) the text just needs a bit of breaking up to breathe. I think that’s why Nickel Boys worked so well for me. Glad you had something to cook too. Though there might just be another video on Sunday. Maybe. 🤔
@cindyhaiken5644Күн бұрын
@ If only!!!! And I know what you mean about Whitehead. I had to read Underground Railroad in small installments. It took a month.

Well done on the book sorting so far. We all understand the difficulty of matching books owned with the book shelves available. It must be a good feeling to have empty shelves to fill!

I read The Rock Pool by Cyril Connolly because his name is always mentioned in the histories of the period between the wars and this is his only novel other than Shade the Laurels, which he was writing when he died and the novel was finished by another writer. I read that one in the early eighties and enjoyed it and kept it. It was fun in those days to come across a British published book. The Rock Pool was interesting but had the usual insensitivity of books written at that time. I tried to read an early Colson Whitehead, a science fiction book, Zone One, but it was not for me, I may try again one day. I enjoyed The Underground Railroad and Nickel Boys. Reading and enjoying Brotherless Night.
@deborahr2913Күн бұрын
The book sorting was very inspiring. Do you limit yourself to only having books that will fit on your shelves? With a little temporary floor storage, but we’ve all been there…. Earl is always a joy to see. I think he knows when he’s being filmed.
@SavidgeReadsКүн бұрын
I think all cats know when they’re being filmed as they either up the cuteness… or purposefully ignore you. Hahaha. I’m trying to only have as many books on the shelves. Ideally I would love space on the shelves in the library like I have in the office. One day, one day.
@taneesewilson8844Күн бұрын
Haha such a chuckle with you and Earl at the start of this video. You are too funny Simon😂 You captured moments in your day and week that I love to watch….all of it. I wonder if Biscuit thinks he’s found the penultimate hiding place?! 😂 Great book and sweater choice for your holiday to Lisbon this summer. And I have moved TLOST up from my TBR since seeing it again recently and in this video📚Sometimes it’s just a sign😁 And I loved Maria and ‘Bravo’ as they say to Angeli! Also, I think BMB would honour your gift voucher should you decide to tell them what happened Simon. They might feel badly that you didn’t and someone undeservedly used it.
@SavidgeReadsКүн бұрын
Wasn’t Angelina amazing. I absolutely loved Maria, thrilled it’s been up for cinematography at the Oscars though thought she should be too. I’m getting so excited for Lisbon already only 5 and a half months to go. Woohoo 🥳

I just love how colourful your house is. These vlogs are becoming my chill out video of an evening now. One question, why have you got multiple of books? My partner noticed them and I’m being nosy haha
@SavidgeReadsКүн бұрын
Oh in the office? They’re books I get dedicated copies of from authors I interview for my Patreons on one of the tiers. I do get multiple copies of some books upstairs as I often get sent a proof as well as a finished copy if they’re the ones you mean. Too many books in this video… and this house. Hahaha.
@alliebeesreadingКүн бұрын
Earl is so stinkin’ cute. I hope he gets his furever home with you. I think I remember you saying you only listen to NF on audio? You could slim down your NF shelf by getting rid of books after putting them into a queue on whatever audiobook platform you use? I would email them….it was technically your payment. The worst thing they can say is no.
@SavidgeReadsКүн бұрын
I would like him to have his forever home here. Even though he latest favourite thing to do is to jump on the bed at 4am and throw himself on me (he’s huge and heavy) and demand chin rubs until he falls asleep and I’m wide awake. Hahaha. I do like that idea of the audio, as yes I can do NF on audio. That said I’d still want the book for my shelves downstairs after, if i loved it.

I was preparing a severe scolding for you as I thought you were having all those mentions of Babygirl without mentioning George Michael! But then you got back on my fave list near the end. I mean, I don’t think there’s much interesting about that film beyond the George Michael song, right? (Yes, I’m kidding.) (But really I was going to call you out if you skipped over George.) (Joking.) (Mostly.) Why do I love all the hyper-speed bits of your vlogs? I’m looking forward to whatever bits of the sorting make it to Patreon.
