Something that a lot of people don't notice is that Damian is not necessarily defending Anya, but himself. If he says that Anya got her Stella in a corrupt way, he's basically invalidating all his efforts to get a Stella.

When I was in my pre-teens someone threw me into a pond to get me to swim, but I panicked and ended up under the pier tangled in seaweed, so now I have underwater phobia (esp murky water with seaweed). It's to the point where I can't look at underwater pics w/o getting nauseous. So yeah, it can mess ppl up pretty badly.

I was 6 years old when i was on some pool with random kids playing around. One girl came and pushed me in the back onto the pool, probably thinking i was playing with them and since i was surprised i started panicking fast. My mother was kind of far away and didn't notice i dissapeared, and since kids were being loud in the pool it was next to impossible for someone to notice me. I started swallowing water fast like 5 or 6 times until by some miracle an old guy noticed me and reached me with his arm. After that i was crying by all the trauma and it took me like 1 week to stop thinking about it at every moment. I didn't end up afraid of water or anything, maybe because i already knew how to swim at that moment, the problem was being pushed and panicking out of nowhere. If i hadn't know how to swim at that moment i might be scared of learning now

There was a very disturbing video somewhere online from a security camera at a public pool and this kid just drowns in this crowded public pool at night in front of a lot of people who just weren't paying attention. The pool was filled with people and no one noticed. It's the most terrifying thing to me and why I hate large pools. I could never sleep comfortably if I had a kid and a large pool.

saving someone's life really changes you, when i was 14 my sister commit suicide and i couldn't stop from blaming myself as i saw all the signs and even witnessed her get the rope she used to do it moments before. i was awake in my room next door happily watching a movie not realising the flags that i had witnessed up until that point, it changed my life. from finding the body to being questioned by the police or all the trauma that came after it. this compiled other trauma i had experienced in life including my dad dying at a young age and being raped by a family "friend", i was in a very dark spot, i thought everything was because of me for many years but i came to realise that i wanted to make people truly enjoy life. i tried to make everyone around me the best they could possibly be as i never wanted others to get to the point of breaking as i had many times so i strived to be a better person, nothing can be controlled in life though and trying is exhausting. however when at university i noticed a housemate follow similar patterns and attempted to be there for them, it must have felt hollow though as i didnt know them very well and it eventually spiralled out of control. luckily when the time came i was able to remain calm in the situation, call an ambulance and ultimately save their life. it will never make me feel better for what i felt at the time was something i could have prevented but it made me feel like i had made a difference in this world, i continued to support them after and they eventually got their degree in psychology and although we dont talk much anymore im truly glad that they were able to move on from that part of their life and be happy, all i really want to say is spread love not hate. it may feel simple and shallow after telling you all of this, but you can make a difference. im sorry for ranting guys, i love this channel and this tight knit community. its just that sometimes i can really connect with some of the things you say in these commentaries. thank you for everything!

I enjoy swimming a lot, but I do have a vague memory of an incident when I was little, too little to be on the deep end. It wasn't a public pool, I don't think anyways as it was long ago. I climbed onto some kind of large floating ball because I thought it'd be fun to float around on top of it. Then it drifted over to the deep end and I slipped off. Fortunately my big sister was there and got me out.

I almost drowned when I was a kid in a very full public pool. I saw older kids jumping off the side into the water and thought that was fun so jumped off too, the momentum shot me out of my floaty ring (I don't think they had ones back then with like panties so you couldn't slip out it, was just a hollow donut) and I instinctively tried to cry out in fear/surprise and ended up sucking in water. A stranger pulled me out just a second before my dad got there. I remember crying so hard.

Drowning is scary. When I was a kid, we often went to a big lake near my hometown in summer. It had a platform in the middle at the deepest part, where older kids would hang out and jump into the deep water. I was much younger (8 or 9?) but a fairly good swimmer, so I swam out all the way to the platform on my own and jumped in like the teenagers did. It was loud and fun and I felt so mature, lol. Everyone would cheer the one jumping on loudly, but then once they were in the water, attention moved to the next person. One time I dove all the way to the bottom of the lake after a jump (~5 meters?). When I ran out of breath, I wanted to go back up, but my legs had gotten tangled up in waterplants and I couldn't get free. I panicked and kicked and struggled to get free, but it's not like that would be noticeable on the water surface from that far below, and I couldn't scream. No one noticed that I wasn't coming back up since the attention was already focused on the next person. So yeah, drowning is a very silent business. (I did manage to free myself in the end, but had to be carried up the ladder to the platform afterwards....and then jumped straight back in because I had read in one of my horse books that you need to immediately confront any potential trauma like falling off a horse right away so you don't grow scared of it and my stupid ass thought that extended to drowning, lol. I have zero memories of how I made it back to shore, I was so out of it).

Yeah, I remember all my times I was drowning. I still don't know how to swim, just propel or push and that. The first time I remember was in a lake, I tried jumping and asking for help while water would just go in so won't allow me to scream loudly. And the last time was in a mix pool that has deep side, I was just "swimming" on my back until my arms got tired, I just stopped in the deep part, I thought in attempting to just walk at the closest edge but my both legs got cramps right after landing and was there, deep low, in pain holding air, thinking on food that I really liked and didn't eat a long time ago... Until a stranger did notice that I've sunken and was for too long there. Still eating today my fave food, gladly (I'm not fat, I just love food and my body would never change. I just get tired too quickly and cramps when swimming a bit)

I actually saw a kid die from drowning when I was very little, at a local YMCA. It was during a swim class teaching us how to swim, and someone dared the kid to jump into the 9ft deep end (which the counselors had expressly forbid us to do). By the time the counselors or anyone knew what had happened, it was too late, and he was gone. Even as I was too young to understand what had just happened, the memory of seeing the kid being placed inside of a big black bag has stayed with me, even all these decades later.

The swimming thing is interesting. When I was like 7, my dad told me and my cousin to go off this very tall waterslide sorta as a joke but we actually did it, well technically only me cause my cousin got up there and pussied out. So when I went down the slide and at the end of it, I fell into the pool and because of the water in my eyes and mouth, I couldn't swim up and legit thought I died until a lady in the pool got me up and scolded my dad.

The drowning story is interesting because it makes me think, when a child is drowning is it a natural impulse to raise their arm up out of the water? I had an incident when I was very young where my parents turned around for a second and then saw me go under the water in the deep end, sticking up and waving my arm as well.
