I love Ryzen's note about how the woman was too enlightened to ever reincarnate back into this world, but maybe his selfless act to never eat humans will allow him to meet her in the next life. However unlikely that may be, (given how Spirit World operates), it's a cool thought that his motivation was fueled by the hope of somehow becoming worthy of her.

Yusuke's ancestor, the medicine woman, was a practitioner of a primitive form of inoculation. In the manga she was horribly scarred and the "toxins," in her body were countless sicknesses she voluntarily introduced into her body so she could build resistances, and use her blood as a makeshift vaccine. When she disrobed half her body was ravaged by disease, and a visible evidence of her dedication to others, which is what struck Raizen more so than the nudity. And about her being too enlightened to reincarnate. With the strong presence of Buddhism in Japanese culture & media, as well as Raizen's own character being influenced by Buddhist mythology. The cycle of life, death and rebirth is samsara in Buddhism. When someone achieves enlightened, they are freed from the cycle, and no longer reincarnate.

Damn, less than 10 episodes to go. I remember them reacting to the first episode and thinking to myself "How am I going to survive two years of this by having to watch weekly?!" And yet here we are. Have had an amazing time watching these reactions and can't wait to see them react to the remaining episodes. I also love how the woman was a healer and yet most likely saved so many more humans than she realised by being with Raizen because he stops killing humans for food.

They changed Raizen's dialogue. In the dub, he asked Yusuke if the latter ever thought about eating a human. The fact that Yusuke, despite being of Demon lineage, does not have that urge gives Raizen hope that everything in Demon Realm, including the demons, will eventually change.

They changed Raizen's last word? In Japanese his last word was "あー...ハラへったな" "Man...I'm so hungry". Also 4:01 Yusuke said "食えよ 人間しか食えねってならオレが2,3人かっさらってきてやるよ" "Eat. If you can only eat humans, I'll go grab two or three for you". I like both of these lines. Very Togashi. Kuroko told Yusuke before "You referred humans as "foods". I think you don't belong in the human world anymore."

Yeah... this is the point where Togashi literally started having health problems and rushed the story. From a political conflict that even involved having 3 of the main characters to be in different sides... to just being boiled down to another tournament arc.

Against Kurama, your plan must be perfect; because his certainly is... and even then, that only puts you on equal footing which makes it 50/50 at best. Against Yusuke, your plan would be useless; you can't account for the actions of someone who doesn't even know, themselves, what they will do next. The show never goes into much detail about this, but based on the power of Ryzen's friends, his relationship with them and what is said throughout this arc, I think Raizen was powerful enough to beat them without much risk, but it wouldn't be so easy that it is without danger for his faction (at least if we don't count his group as part of his faction)
