Many benefits come from buying baby crested geckos over an adult. Today I wanted to explain things from the color side. Some Crested geckos may change more than mine have in the last year.

i remember getting my crestie. the breeder said that she was a super dalmatian, and i was like 'no WAY. that thing barely has any spots!' but we got her anyway because she was dang cute. ten months later, she is absolutely covered in spots! she looks like someone flicked a paintbrush with black paint in it all over her!

Yeah, I've seen people with crested geckos that bite a ton. While my baby still runs away from my hand in the tank a little bit, but I've never been bit. I dunno if that's because its a baby, but it's nice to not have to worry about being bit.

Oh my story, picked up a baby (adopted from petsmart) They claim he was blind after we found him in a 100 degree enclosure. Insisted they take him to vet. 2 weeks later they said vet said he was blinded. Told them I wanted to adopt him, and they said ok. So 3 weeks later i get the call to come get him. He weighed in at 1.3g 6 days later of feeding him Pangea he now weighs 1.8g. They were feeding him only nats. Come to find out he is not blind, he has vision problems, but its a neurological disorder, he has bad balance, and flips out when first handle him each day to feed him, but then calms down, walks straight lines, but still flips head around from time to time. He looks like a flame, pinstripe so cant wait to see how he changes at time goes on.

Usually PetSmart does take them to a vet. I use to take the reptiles and small animals all the time that needed it. The neurology issues hopefully are the worst of what the little one experiences in his life. PetSmart protocol is also supposed to be every night new powder and tiny fruit flies or crickets. I use to make a special blend of freeze dried fruit flies and repashy and the crestys would jump and bite the fingers if it wasn't a fast enough placement of the bowl.

It's sad that places will willing spend so much at the vets instead of just getting educated in the animals they sell :( I have seen this at too many pet stores, they will take the animal to the vet but throwing money at the problem usually doesn't make the animal live the same quality of life from now on and these animals do live a long time.

I think it’s nice to get a baby crested gecko . Not for saving money it’s fun to watch them grow . You still have to get tanks for them as they grow so I’m not sure if it’s a savings unless you happened to have tanks of various sizes to hand. Mines have changed dramatically. I had a brown/ red baby who is now a tiger yellow . The other was very very dark brown who is now a amazing red / almost black brown 😊

To add to this video on why baby crested geckos definitely have their perks. I bought a baby crested gecko about a week ago and I asked the breeder what morph it was because it was brown and cream. She said extreme harlequin(who fires up bright yellow and black, which I didn't know until two days later.) Turns out his dad is a dalmatian and a week later, my "extreme harlequin" has dalmatian spots. I paid $80 for a baby extreme harlequin and my best friend paid almost $200 for an adult extreme harlequin female. She also paid $140 for a Creamsicle adult female. What we didn't know is that female crested geckos can hold sperm up to a year and that this breeder intermixes her young adults so the Creamsicle suddenly became very expensive yesterday because she laid a clutch. The extreme Harlequin is probably gravid as well because she's super chunky and she's gone off her food. So that's the other risk with buying adults that we didn't know about. And while all this activity is going on, my little guy is hanging upside down by it's tail and licking water droplets off the glass of its recently sprayed cage. So if a gravid gecko isn't something you want, can afford, or have the set up for, babies are a great option. I've never had crested geckos before and until I got Venom, I didn't know that they are usually for experienced keepers. But after yesterday's fiasco and how much stress my friend is under, unless it's a really nice crested gecko, I'll never buy an adult or young adult. Because that's stress, financial and emotional, I won't have to deal with for another two-ish years and then, only if I choose to.

I just got my first crested gecko from morph market for $81. Its a adult male with some great contrast in cream/base colour. It was a great deal since the breeder didn't want him in his breeding program. I have a juvenile crested gecko, he is about 13cm long(and about 11months old), and I fed him CGD(Banana cream super foods) every two days so far. I decided to feed him small mealworms(that JUST went through shedding so that they're chitin 'armor' is a bit thinner). He shows big interest upon seeing the worm and eats it within a few minutes. Right now I'm wondering if I should feed small mealworms / CGD in turns, every two days. Is this not recommended? If so, how often and what should I feed my crested gecko? I feel he's small for his age and am worried :(

My little jerk cresty was a 5" juvenile and has some serious temper tantrum issues. Also trying to get him to be more active is also an issue I'm having. And I agree the adults are usually insanely priced. The Petco I use I know their workers well and got my yellow dalmatian morph when they had a sale for $38.99 luckily. He's fun till he gets super bitey with everyone and scares away my younger cousin's. For some new keepers any cresty snout to vent around 3" would be a good starter as their not super fragile but they also are over their first shed that usually can be stressful to a baby reptile.

I have the option to get either a creamsicle for $75 or either a male or female dalmatian, the 2 male dalmatians this guy has look like full pinstripe harley dalmatians and the female is a bit different, phantom pinstripe, dalmatian for sure. The female is from november last year, the 2 boys he has are 2 yrs old. I cant decide. The guy with the dalmatians wants 80 for each, regardless of age or sex. Input? I've really taken a liking to the small female but I'm having a hard time pinpointing anything on her besides the dalmatian spotting. She's light yellow, has grey brindle markings and has them on her legs as well. Her pinstripe is definitely the color of her yellow base. Her mom is a dark gray/cream harley dalmatian with what looks like a broken pinstripe and the dad is also dark gray/cream harley with full pinstripe but no dalmatian spots. The baby is definitely a harley as well and so far she's looking like a phantom pinstripe and she has a good amount of spots, some quite large Any ideas anyone?

Calcium and multi-vitamin have been added to the menu once a week. And Im trying to feed crickets. My baby cresty is so small. As small as the one on your thumb in the video. Im worried he or she is stunted ? I did get my cresty from a Breeder. Atm I left 4 dusted crickets in his tank. Im going to go check on him in 40 minutes. The last time I fed crickets he ate 7 (pinheads), but I fed those by tongs. So I hope he or she will eat them this time... otherwise I may mash them into the pangea food. Debating just grabbing autumn. I want all but as I work to save I'm watching each gecko be sold one by one and I for sure don't want her to get away. Was already sad Luna was sold she was my fave. Sorry it's taken so long. But art slots don't sell fast.
