Those clone saws are good…. they’re perfect if you want to tinker and mess with them and it doesn’t cost a whole bunch of money if you wanna make a Frankensaw. I have a farmer tech 395 and I’ve had to replace quite a few parts on it, but generally the saw runs fine. I like how they misspell Husqvarna though that made me laugh… cool video.

I got the Neotec version of an MS381 for $218 on sale. A lot of guys say to run a couple tanks 25:1 with these cheaper Chinese engines to break them in. Then run 40:1 or 50:1 like normal after that. Also, run a bit rich then adjust the carb eventually once the diaphragms break in.
@sawsonthefarm8 күн бұрын
How is it? Any issues? I've heard the Neotec's are not that good. I know they are all hit or miss but, we can still get lucky right!
@Condor19707 күн бұрын
@sawsonthefarm Honestly, I've only used it a couple of times and haven't even gotten fully broken in yet. Still running 25:1 on the 3rd tank. I will probably switch to 43:1 next time I use it, and lean out the carb a little. All that said, it seems to run quite well, and is very strong. I can see it being a real work horse once fully broken in and tuned. The problem is, I use my old Stihl 025 for just about everything, and only got this Neotec because I rarely need anything over 20 inches just for general firewood and storm cleanup. And because I only need it a couple of times a year, I just couldn't justify spending $1,400 for a new MS460. So far, I think it was a good buy.

@kennethhathaway3823 Really well I tell the Owners of the Lawn Mower shop that been in business since the 80ties along with their mechanics that have been doing it for years . In fact they break in all the Pro Stihl they sell with 32:1 before they give them to the customer and they tell the customer to run 32:1 . Been running my saws for quite a few years now and ain't burned up nothing or blowed up nothing . Kinda strange most all my saws that are antique say run 40:1 or 32:1 . I even have a few that say run 16:1 .

Lawnboy 2 mix oil is not synthetic . I don't and ain't gonna run any synthetic and it's all over the interscreen that the Gray bottle Stihl synthetic two-stroke is causing more harm than good and I'll keep running 32:1 also in my Lawnboy commercial self propelled bagger push mower that was the last 2 stroke version made like it says to do on the top of the gas cap .

It was pre-tuned to 50/1. Running 40/1 will run lean out and lose power in the cut. Or worse. Must use top grade fully synthetic oil. Running without airfilter messes up carb settings to. Believe it or not the factory tunes and tests on these parameters.
@sawsonthefarm9 күн бұрын
Actually you have the mixture theory backwards 50 parts of fuel to 1 part of oil is a leaner mixture than 40 parts of fuel to 1 part oil. I use the 40:1 for more oil protection and yes I always use a name brand synthetic oil. As for running without an air filter I strictly do this on the bench. Once the saw is complete and I'm ready to start cutting is when I tune the saw. I tune a saw every time I use it for the wood I'm in as well as the air temp and density. These carbureted small engines require constant tuning to keep them at peak performance without damage. Thanks for the comment and your thoughts, this is why we do this stuff to learn and share! 👍🏻
@ashleylaw9 күн бұрын
@@sawsonthefarm No. That is not correct. If you don't believe me ask your local Husky dealer. Yes you are running a thicker mix but everything on that saw from factory was tuned to 1/50. Running 1/40 means you have to retune it. Or it will pull more air to compensate and then run lean and you will lose power at best. A tip don't run Stihl ultra unless you going to run it hot all day. Otherwise it will carbon up fast. Oh and at 40/1 It will run hotter so more stress and wear results over time. But at only 200$ no Biggie looks a bargain.
@sawsonthefarm9 күн бұрын
@ I hear your theory and no disrespect. I've always run every saw I own old and new all makes and models like this. I have never had an issue. I do appreciate your take on this, respectfully I'm goin to stick with what works for me. I did hear that about the Stihl oil, that it creates a ton of carbon if there is a lot of idling. I've heard that the Echo red armor is really good! Thanks for your comments!
@alltherpm8 күн бұрын
@@ashleylawno your wrong how will it pull more air,,, it pulls same amount of air no matter the mix, more oil means better ring seal, also ive never had a tune off that bad from different ratio that I needed to retune,, silly,,,, I also say what consumes more air 600 cube 600hp big block or a 600hp 302 ford??
@BentIronBins8 күн бұрын
The less oil means more fuel in the charge but i prefer more oil for better ring seal and therefore more compression its all about tuning for the ratio and air density.

@@sawsonthefarm Remind yourself that this is a Chinese machine that is made from parts less well finished than the big brands!
