Soul Blade [PS1] - play as Cervantes (with both endings)

This is a play-through using Cervantes de Leon in the PS1 version of Soul Blade / Soul Edge. Read on below for more information...
Cervantes is the sub-boss of the game. He is a regular playable character.
For this play-through, I've chosen to use the Serpent's Tongue as his weapon. In my opinion, it's probably his best weapon for power, speed and defense.
This video shows both of his endings, the Bad one and then the Good one.
===== About Cervantes =====
Cervantes is the dreaded pirate villain and is one of the staple characters of the series. He has the honour of being the first ever character in the series to wield the Soul Edge.
I think Cervantes is the best boss of the series... his status as a notorious pirate really did make him a great boss for Soul Blade, and his BGM theme "Bravely Folk Song" suits him perfectly. He is one of my all-time favorite bosses in a fighting game.
===== About PS1 Soul Blade =====
The PS1 version of the game is one of the all-time greats on the console, and is one of the best 'conversion/port of an arcade game'. Aside from the loading times (which are very short anyway) it's virtually arcade perfect. It helped that the arcade original ran on hardware that was already based on the PS1 hardware.
The PS1 version has tons of features that are not found in the arcade original. For example, the port has 2 extra remixed soundtracks, new character costumes, new weapons, cinematic endings for the characters, the superb Edge Master Mode and more.

In this game you could get "good" endigns if you pressed the correct buttons when the two black lines appeared during the cutscene. It was only a second so you had to be quick. Good memories.

Were you able to figure it out? You have to press a certain button at a certain point after beating the final boss. That button is different for each character. I think they have it on gamefaqs so you can look it up there.

It's so cool when you highlight Soul Edge and you see the meters blinking and going off the charts. I think Cervantes, Voldo, and Siegfried had the option of choosing that weapon.

Except it's actually not. It's Cervantes' default weapon in this so the stats for him are a lie (and he's still the strongest of all characters before any unlocks) except maybe for Edge Master Mode since he starts off just slaughtering people and then the difficulty comes in with the gimmick stages so you need to try other alternatives. Serpent's Tongue is better even there due to the speed advantage it provides and I don't believe you'd be able to beat Soul Edge in Edge Master Mode with him without it. At least in my experience.

Just unlock the weapons of each character completing edge master mode, if you want to select another weapon instead of the first one in arcade,just press "select" on the character then you can choose any weapon you unlocked

You can look up the guides on gamefaqs, but you essentially have to press a specific button (varies between characters) during the ending video sequence. If you time it right, the alternative ending will appear.

I personally prefer an HD remaster of this game, NOT a remake. This way all the old school fans can enjoy the game as they originally played it except with smoother/sleek-looking graphics. To add to the authenticity, they can probably redo some of the voice-acting, though. For example, Cervantes needs to be speaking Spanish, Siegfried speaking German, Hwang/Seung Mina speaking Korean, etc. They can remake the ending sequences, though (maybe entirely CGI or something). And make the arranged version of the OST the default.
