just pre ordered this. i hope the original blood omen gets this treatment because i really would love to replay the original blood omen again. this remake gives me a chance to finish soul reaver and i never played 2. i got stuck on the original and couldn't finish it because i couldnt figure out where to go. glad this is getting a remaster and hope it does well because i would love to see new legacy of kain games

I'd love for that to happen, but I highly doubt it. Such a dormant franchise that is basically unknown to the new generation will sell mostly among the older fans, which I don't think will be enough. They had 1 chance to make this right and this..remaster..was a lazy effort, a lot like the GTA trilogy.

But it'd be damned weird to release Blood Omen 2 without it... and Defiance relies HEAVILY on the plot of Blood Omen 1, and directly informs Blood Omen 2...

Memory is the funniest thing!! I remember playing Games like Tomb Raider or Tenchu and I NEVER noticed how the polygons wobbled about. I thought it was an error that you saw through emulation, but I found an old style T.V, hooked it up to my original PS1 Console and there were those wobbly Graphics. As far as I was concerned, everything was smooth like we see in these Remasters 😃

Most definitely! They really did stick with the story throughout. Blood Omen 2 is a little iffy but it is a timeline created from Kain and Raziel playing with time and going down the "third option" as Kain says. I'm suprised I remember most of that even if a few things may be wrong. Please correct me if my information is incorrect. The writing is very good and the acting. I nerd out on it all the time😂😂

Im perfectly okay with just a remaster of the graphics and gameplay improvements if possible even if slightly. The camera I remember was the big thing but the story and voice acting is what I love about these games! If there was a new game after these it would have to be done right and its hard with some of the actors passing and original writers not being there. Hopefully its like the Crash Bandicoot situation! After those remastered games came out haha. Edit: I also highly appreciate the developers listening to customer concerns! And actually fixing it! Thats amazing and it brings me some hope for these games.

The vampire bosses scared the willies out of me back in my childhood because they were very monstrous, now they look even more horrifying, sends a chill down my spine. I wonder if the developers did a sneaky and added an optional area where we can fight vampire Turel, who was cut from the og SR1.

This is one of my favorite games of all time, I’ve played the entire series from the original LOK to LOKSR Defiance. I know there have been some criticisms about the overall graphics but this is a remastered version of the original game, the game developers were trying to keep the original feel of the original game so I can let some things slide. I guess I’m just geeking out that we are finally getting an official game release after over 20 years of waiting. Hopefully this will lead to a new title release in the future as well so the story can finally be properly completed.

The overall picture here is very positive. Man, experiencing this game all over again after 25 whole year since I first played it and with the same level of excitement I felt back when it was first announced as the sequel to one of my most treasured games, the original Blood Omen and eagerly waiting for it to release, the tought alone makes me want to play all of the games again! People who haven't experienced these masterpieces are in for a treat! The story, the characters, the writing, the performances, all top tier! Amy Henig, Simon Templeman, Michael Bell and the late Tony Jay may he rest in peace, all did amazing jobs. I especially remember playing the Soul Reaver demo from the PS magazine (still have it) and being blown away! And the full release, sweet! Everything that followed was also excellent, I hope they remaster the entirety of the franchise.

I have a PS Vita that I picked up a couple years ago just so I could download the LOK series and play them on the road when I travel for work. I’ve burned through the game’s several times and I never get sick of playing them. I’m geeking out of this remaster and hopefully this is a prelude for things to come.

@@GamingMyWholeLife Yeah mate, I may be a bit older nowadays but once you've played certain games, they stay with you forever, the Legacy of Kain saga being one of a select few gaming franchises that have that effect. To tell you the truth, I have amassed a pretty extensive collection of games and systems since the good old days, including pretty much every single PS Magazine demo and the magazines themselves! I'll tell you this, browsing through some of these magazines like Nintendo Power, PS Magazine or GamePro is like taking a trip back in time, when things were vastly different! And if you don't already know, the soundtrack that you hear in the Soul Reaver remaster trailer, which was released with the announcement, is the actual soundtrack of the demo reel inside the Soul Reaver demo, after finishing it. My mind was blown when I first saw the trailer with all the memories of that time flooding back! Anyway, a few more weeks and hopefully there'll be a special edition physical release like Tomb Raider.

I already pre orded. Cant wait to play this gem, this truly masterpiece again with enhanced graphics. I love the fact that they heard us out and made darker skins to fit more with the darky theme game, shiny textures and no shadows was going to be a big disappoint if it was released like that. I wish they didnt change rahab eyes and look. In the original version he looks more menacing, its like if you could clearly see that he was a vampire once and he kept some things when he was still human for example his big forehead nose and also a little bit of his skin tone, this new version he looks more like a fish and completely like another character, you cant no longer see like if he was a human before. Of course in the original version some of the other brothers have already lost all of their human form completely for example melchiah but atleast rahab kept some of his things and i think it wasnt necesary to do that. Not touching the original things details while remodeling must be hard but anyways i still love this and will keep supporting them because for me this is the best series ever so far. I cant describe how happy i am to see this coming back again in a version it deserved. Im all tattoed with soul reaver stuff 😂. Im a big fan

The game on my mind is FF7 rebirth, personally I think there's an excessive amount of mini games could this be to appeal to this generation of fans? I mean the gameplay is solid, but something that makes me enjoy ff16 alot more is that the story gameplay and voice acting is phenomenal, even if the focus is more action than traditional ff's combat (and I love traditional FF combat)I personally preferred ff16 more, the one thing that's put me off the most in FF7 rebirth's game is the voice acting in Yuffie's character, in all my years of gaming her voice actor and acting gives me an instant migraine with how absolutely whiney the character is, and the the kid with the VR headset, what's his name? Chadwick? my goodness he talks horrendously excessive, do you think it's designed for this generation of gamers? so even if the game excells in every other area, do you think voice acting can make or break a game? I wish I could bring myself to like it more but because of all this I find myself gravitating and loving FF16 a whole lot more, what are your thoughts? I'm genuinely curious

Honestly speaking, I probably don't pay enough attention to things like that with voice acting BUT it does hinder the experience for me if a character is outright annoying. So for example, I did a review on Dragon Quest 11 (loved it) but at the start of the Game, there is a female characters who's voice sounded really annoying to me and was concerned everyone would sound like that. Thankfully, it was just her but if the whole Game was the same, I think I would have got grumpy at it. Many things are aimed at the younger audience these days. It's why everything is over the top with colour in Trailers and you see similar hair cuts across the industry. We are often, not the target audience any more (even if I'm pretty sure there is still more of us). It's also why most avoid turn based combat (the AAA Devs that is), they are worried the younger players don't have the attention span for it. My argument is, they need to learn from somewhere and at least be given a chance to appreciate it. I know as I get older, I'm more stern in my wants from Games. So you mention Final Fantasy for example. I'm a massive fan of the original FF7 Game from the PS1 and have wanted nothing more than a Remake. The moment I realised and tried the Demo, saw they removed the turn based aspect, I found it disrespectful and never bought the Game in the end. So I can be stubborn as well hahaha As the Publisher has openly talked about how the most recent Game did not meet sales expectations , I think they should focus first on looking after old school fans and the newer generation will just come any more if the Game is good.

One question I have is will they restore the cut content and ending of SR1, as a possible additional mode? Vicarious Visions restored cut content from Crash 1 in the N'Sane Trilogy as DLC. Will Aspyr do the same with the original content Crystal had to cut due to time? Someone has already done a video showing this cut content via hacks, as these files and audio are still in the original game. Could they do this as DLC?

It's amazing to see the small details of the first brother you fight that couldn't be seen in the original and looks incredible. Can't wait to play these, not sure why defiance wasn't included. That was really the end of raziels trilogy. I thought it was a solid entry

Dying for these games, been waiting a long time personally, and I truly hope in future we get the rest of the franchise receiving the same treatment, also I'd love to dream of a day where we have the story of Kain continue past Defiance.. and perhaps if they were feeling bold, to one day give us the story of Janos Audron during the end days of the Vampire Hylden War and the creation of the Pillars.. that would be awesome too. Either way, I'm happy to see the return of the franchise in any form, whatever it may be.

There sure is! When I first covered this Remastered, it was revealed that "Lost Islands" will be added. So it seems they are retroactively looking back to see what they can put into this. The ultimate version of these games 😎

By the way, I've just discovered (after thinking it was a major graphical issue) that you can toggle between remastered and original PS1 graphics by clicking R3 on PS5 (and I assume PS4 as well) on at least SR1. This isn't mentioned in the controller options menu.

In the 2 percent of things I worry for I'm worried the environments, particularly the natural environs, aren't getting as much love as the character models and I wouldn't mind if the animation for the remastered visuals was smoothed out compared to the more jerky animation of the original. Anyway, Saber Interactive, if you are perusing these comments, please keep up the great work and make sure you get properly credited for your work on this title.

I agree, but there is a reason for this and why characters are only getting the poly boost. Budget and the difficulty of the spectral realm shifts in the original geometry, if changed, could create a ton of problems, especially when judging distance between jumping to new platforms as everything would have to be rescale/resized exactly perfect for it to not break a part of the original game level design. Characters don't warp with the geometry in the original so it's an easy thing to redesign them without to much technical fuss> ( which, in turn would increase the budget quite a bit and risk the financial success rate of sales needed ). Plus the new geometry would have to facilitate a new geometry warping engine while managing 2 different poly budgets (one for material & spectral ). Both would be quite tricky and expensive for a game the size and detail of Soul Reaver and at that point you might aswell be making a fullblown remake ( I'd prefer this as Soul Reaver is the perfect game for a remake, just keep the same voice audio ) but it's just way too financially risky at the moment, from a publisher point of view.

It would be great if they added Turel’s crypt as well. It was deleted from the original game along with a couple extra soul reaver forges that change the color and power up for Razel’s wrath blade. Even if the game developers make that a DLC it would great to see something new to expand the adventure a little more.

Missing content like the lost islands is getting added, so it's possible they are looking over everything that never made it and are adding it all 🙃 I'm hoping all these PS1 Games lead to even more in the future. Tomb Raider is covered but what I would really love to see is the return of TENCHU

I first played SR1 about 14 years ago on my PSP, couldn't finish it because, at the time, the game was very weird to me and my english (not my first language) wasn't good enough to actually get a grasp on what the hell was going on in the game. I think i didn't even beat the first boss. About a month ago i downloaded SR1 on my PSVITA and finally was able to finish the game and... Holy shit! What a game it was, immediatly fell in love with it. Game has an amazing story, amazing atmosphere, mechanics, voice acting, controls were janky but it's perfectly justified since it a PSX game. After finishing the first game, i immediatly got SR2 on steam and defiance on GOG, haven't had the time to finish SR2 but so far it's been an amazing game too. Definitely planning on getting the remasters, can't wait to play them with proper controller support.

It absolutely can add to the experience and it's a very rewarding feeling when we eventually find out way 😃 I personally, get lost for waay longer than even the devs most likely anticipate and the joy starts to go from that point onwards, lol. So I'll try find my way but when I feel the joy slipping, good to know I can look at he map and or compass to help me out 😃 I've beaten the first a few times but never had the 2nd, so I'm really excited to finally try it out!! I know they intended to maintain the details as close as the original game, but since they remake the model of Raziel, they should remake the Reaver too, and yo make it more menacing... Is it me, or do they graphics still looks, well blocky? I suppose that's kinda what you are going to get if your mapping over the old game. If anything, i'm happy people are talking about the Soul Reavers games again. I would love to see some atmospheric effects, like smoke, mist, something to give the enviroments some atophear, like they've been deratlic for so long that there is like, mold, or dust, hanging in the air.

It seems like character models and items get remodelled but environments stay the same. So the super blocky architecture is untouched apart from texture work I believe. Those are some great suggestions! I would have liked more camera effects as well, like depth of field as an option

I would like to see imrpovements to the combat a bit. I don't know what improvements but the combat has always been genius to me but always just a LITTLE short of perfection and I don't know what's missing. I would like to see more versatility with the soul reaver as well because in the first game you could only have it out if you were full on souls and it was always on in the spectral relm. If they polish the combat a bit I wouldn't mind them increaseing the amount of enemies around the map that you would have to deal with. Maybe the combat could be slightly closer to defiance? I don't know I don't wanna make any claims, I'll let them cook but I hope they do a little something with the combat.
