This my Auntie y’all! We used to pile in fro t of the tv on Saturday mornings, looking for her on the Soul Train stage, risers, and cages! I had the privilege of spending a Summer with her in 1984, when New Edition performed, and I got to dance on the floor in front of her for a couple of songs! She taught me to drive in LA traffic! Lol I am Sooooo Happy and proud of her and BET/Soul Train did an Excellent job, telling her story! Some other facts she was accepted into The Fashion Institute, but chose dance over fashion! She also danced a live awards show behind ZZ Hill singing Down Home Blues and behind MTume singing Juicy! Love to Miss Aretha! Some of my family actually still calls her that!😂❤❤❤❤

GodsWoman757 😉 Your Auntie Aretha, has an extremely LOVELY HEART. I met her at SOUL TRAIN in the 70's. Her episode of "I WAS A SOUL TRAIN DANCER" is absolute magnificence. Since you also danced on SOUL TRAIN, I consider you a Soul Train Dancer and want to personally invite you to our Soul Train Alumni Christmas Party Toy Drive 💖

Aretha is absolutely exquisite and has a beautiful spirit. Such an accomplished dancer with technical know how coupled with a unique ability to design and sew by vision without a pattern. She stands out to me as one of the best on ST and it’s great to see her evolution on the show from the 70s to 80s. My favorite ST line was to Janet Jackson’s “When I Think of You”, and I believe Aretha is in the red dress with sunglasses.

You all were real beauties. You should be very proud of yourself, and your fashions. I remember so much of this vividly when I was younger. I also appreciate having a mom that worked making clothes. I learned how to sew as well. And worked in my junior college costume shop. So I've also very much appreciated wardrobe people and designers. I was cruising down Crenshaw Bl. recently and couldn't believe Maverick's Flat was still there. I'm a Los Angeles native, born and raised. But because I could sing, I went more the musical theater route. Thanks so much for the trip down memory lane! Take care, stay blessed

This lady is not only beautiful and humble, but so inspirationally talented. I was a long-time "Soul Train" viewer. I lived in L.A. from 1980 to 2002. I lived on Gramercy Place, right around the corner from the "Red Onion". So it was a regular spot for my buddies and I. I had the great pleasure of meeting Don Cornelius, Barry White, and Tina Marie backstage at a Cameo concert. They were all the nicest of human beings. Thanks for these awesome videos!
