Just a note, when you queue a craft for a tribesman, if the mats are in a chest he has permission to use, he will got get the mats to complete the craft... effectively 'crafting from chests'

Enshrouded made absolute best middle ground when it comes to crafting from chests - you had to craft "Magic Chests" that allowed you to pull and craft from them. It was amazing, because they were quite hard to craft and you really felt the progression for each new chest you placed and it added a nice immersion as well

Really love the guide!! I would have one addition that you seem to habe overlooked: At the beginning, I would definitely prioritise getting the basic linen armour as well as bandages. It increases your health pool by quite a bit and the bandages are your go to healing tool after a fight

Having to manually pull materials out of chests only works IF the game itself is themed around realism and simulation. Some examples I can think of are Sons of the Forest and Green Hell. But in cases like SoulMask, where the game is definitely NOT trying to be a simulation, convenience should be the priority for players.

One thing to consider for all tribe members set to tasks that use tools is that the members don't repair the damaged tools by default. Instead they'll sit around and mope until you fix them. So you may want to build a Repair station and set a routine for them to fix tools. Alternatively, in the earliest parts of the game, you may just want to spam stone or bone tools and then keep the rare ones for yourself before handing out the rest.

43:43 it should absolutely pull from them. Enshrouded did it the right way; you have to use "go get" style until mid-late game when you can craft magic ones that pull automatically.

About your question around min 43, I think the feature of taking materials from boxes is behind a mechanics perse. You send your workers and they pick everything from boxes until the have the material to start to work, you dont need to stay in a workbench for hours to craft stuffs, you go to explore meanwhile your workers do everthing, thats fine right?

you don't need to pull items out of chests your thralls will do it for you if you use the planned queue option as long as your chest are labeled to different categories, they will walk to crafting bench to see what materials they need for said item then will proceed to get the materials and build that item. once I found that out game changer lol nice video.

Pulling items from chests for crafting should ABSOLUTELY be an option in the server settings. Then each player type can be served, and tailor the game to how they want to play. More realism (manually get items yourself) , or More convenience (crafting stations automatically pull from chests for you)

11:05 the quality determination of any said tool/weapon is not entirely random. you can alter it by having the best possible mood (so your character is very happy) this increases the chance of a higher quality tier to be crafted. and yes your crafting level also influences the tier. with tier being "Fine" or "Good" or "Epic" or even "Legendary" aka blue, green, gold and red color.

You can craft from the chest, just press D and have a tribesman assigned, he will come to craft and pick the required stuff on the way.

Enshrouded, has craft from chest mechanic by creating a magic chest which you can get at the start but still relatively early. I think this is a great way to implement craft from chest mechanic

Definately prefer when they have craft from chest even if the chest has to be in a close proximity makes the gaming experience soo much better. also like it when games have larger storage chests as well as stack sizes esp in the survival genre i tend to be a hoarder and always welcome welcome the bigger stack sizes and chest sizes.

You can craft from chests... if the materials are in a chest the tribesman can access, he will go get the materials from chests to complete a queued item... also, the chests get larger as they upgrade, like any other game

Can you cover more on the tribesmen specifically over mood, moral, patrol route markers, how to improve moral if its been lowered, how to send out tribesman who prefer to hunt to hunt and collect the animal. Ive been searching for multiple videos to cover these questions with no luck. I really enjoy this game but feel the moral and mood are over kill in this game and it would be great if we could just have one or the other. Also crafting posion arrows needs tweaking a single posion only makes a single posion arrow instead of x3 or x5 bit of a inconvenience.

In most cases I prefer to craft from chest like Palworld or ARK S+. But in Soulmask you have your tribemates to run for resources instead of running yourself. That's what I lacked in Conan Exiles - those thralls would kindly craft after having master to gather and fetch resources, and who is thrall after all?

Manually pulling resources from storage containers is fine in the very beginning, but when a lot of crafting is to be done, I'm all for resources being withdrawn from chests automatically.

You dont even neeed to touch resources. If tou set up your tribesmen will take all mats from chests and craft it for you. If you want to craft for example iron pickaxe just press "D" on pickaxe in crafting station to make crafting queue. Tribesmen asigned to manage that table will do all the work :)

The NPCs you capture pull the items out of chests to craft. Seems like that’s what the devs want you to do. More of you controlling a whole tribe and things being automated rather than you pulling from chests manually and crafting things yourself.

I've read reviews. It's more like Rust. I'm sure the PVP will turn many people off. If solo pve isn't fun then that'll suck for this game. Apparently campfires burn out and buildings decay if you're offline. So it seems even more demanding than world of warcraft? I'm not sure about this game.

You can always play on your own private server that pauses when you're away if you don't want pvp and you don't want offline decay. You can change settings to also basically negate decay if you don't want to worry about it at all

Great guide but you totally breezed over "how" you collect tribesmen. I can only guess it's like when you steal the knowledge from the scout? Or maybe you wait until they come ask to join you? Who knows because you never mentioned how you collected them. Yes, the one came and ask to join you, but is that how you got all the rest of them? Is there any other way to get them?

It explains it when you play the game. Basically you hurt the enemy to 20hp. The. You can carry them to your base. Once they reach a cirtain affinity to you.. basically feed them whilst they are Knocked out... They will then be one of your followers.

Go to a camp, fight until one is at 20% or less health, then an option will appear to "deter" them. That knocks them out. Pick them up and carry them back, put them on a bed/cot, and add some broth to their inventory and use it. That will keep them alive until they reach 500 affinity. At that point, you can mouse over them, select recruit, and they'll stand up and be one of your tribe.
