For some reason the one thing that sticks most in my mind from knowing Zach is the silence and feelings that happened when they read his name at graduation. We all paused, gave honor to his life and I could almost feel him walking across that stage with a huge smile on his face… weird watching this over 12 years later since it popped up on my feed

Wait you knew zach? I recently found out about his story after watching this series and the movie clouds. The girl in the movie who plays sammy my family and I know her personally. I fell in love with his story though so much so that i did a presentation on him and his life and on his moms book in my college critical reading class.

I’m so thrilled that people are coming here after seeing “Clouds” and learning more about him! Was so devastated when he passed away. I encourage everyone to learn more about childhood cancer and osteosarcoma, it is not as rare as people think. 1 in every 285 kids will be diagnosed with cancer before their 20th birthday, and only 4% of all money in the national cancer institute goes to childhood cancers. Osteosarcoma hasn’t had a new drug treatment in over 30 years. We need to do better!

How could you dislike this video? I'm a 15 year old guy and I sobbed throughout the whole thing. No one wants to think about death because it's so scary, but he lived it every day and was happier than I ever am. Him and his family are incredibly strong. I read the fault in our stars and this little film reminded me of it. But this is real life and the only reason the book was so good was because it was an unrealistic outcome for a situation like that. But he was the real thing. My worst fear is being told how much longer I have to live. Because I am 100% positive that my assumed life expectancy would tear me to shreds and would live out the rest of my time absolutely miserable. I need a hug after seeing this, it's so inspiring but so unfair. R.I.P

+Benjamin I have my own views. I liked the thing, it was a touching story. But there is one small problem. People die like this every day. Hundreds, maybe thousands. And even if they went through as much grief as Zach's family, it seems almost insulting to glorify one person's death while not caring about another. If we all are to die, why do so few get chosen to have their lives told in this way? What makes one's death more important than someone else's? You can argue it was his musical talent. But if he had not had that cancer, if he lived his life out like a normal human being, and died at peace in his 90s, would "clouds" have been the monstrous hit it was? Maybe. But the song's success was built on guilt. If you didn't like the song, you didn't approve of a dying teenager's final thoughts on life. People would say you were a soulless monster. Its not that his death is tragic, its that many people go through this suffering without 14 million KZbin views. If you had a relative die from cancer, does it seem far that their life went without the media's notice and Zach did? I say yes, it is reasonable to cry at this. It is normal to feel sad. But do not glorify his death, as hundreds suffer the same way as we speak.
@Ben-jp8kb
@Ben-jp8kb 9 жыл бұрын
Sam Katz I understand where you're coming from and agree that his death shouldn't be anymore glorified than anyone elses. But I don't think I glorified him passing more than I would anyone else's death. If there was a video for every single person that died, I'm sure I'd feel moved for all of them, and I don't know where you got the idea that I don't care about the other people that died because of course I do, I know it might appear that way because I didn't mention anyone else, but this video wasn't about them and I don't think there's anything wrong with that. And why is it so bad to have millions of people standing by him and sending loads of support to his family to help them get through this process. I know that this is only one person and we should acknowledge that this happens all the time and we don't support them because we can't support everyone but if there's an opportunity to share this type of thing to people I think that's great. And my grandmother passed away from cancer about three years ago and I didn't care that she didn't get tons media attention because she knew that we cared and we knew that we cared and we didn't need millions of people supporting us to show that.

hopefully he knew christ as his saviour, then he would have eternal life in heaven, jesus says i am the truth , the way and the life- -------jesus went to the cross to die for our sins, receive his gift of eternal life and call on him. he is faithful and just to forgive our sins and cleanse us. imagine that, an afterlife in gods presence worshipping the one who loved us so much that he gave his son to die on the cross to forgive our sins. im all over that----then there are no need for tears cuz you know where your going!! we are not immortal, we are finite beings and will pass away physically. our souls can be in heaven for eternity...we are saved by faith in God not by works or how nice we were or what we did during our tenure on this ball of mud. Can you see now Mark? Your comment is in fact, encouraging others to dislike this inspirational video based on the last days of Zach as he battles against one of the biggest illnesses in the world, cancer. Have you any respect for Zach? Don't you understand that your comment has so many negative connotations to it? The implications of these connotations also have such a negative impact on its viewers. You are the one creating negativity in the comments of a video where you should be humble and respectful. Think twice before asking such a redundant question.

If I had a chance to meet Zach, I would have take it. He was one of the strongest kids I have ever heard about because, even though he was going through all of that, he still managed to keep a smile on his face and live his last days to the fullest. I've never met Zach and I found out that he died while I was in school. I really didn't know who he was then, but after watching this, it tore me apart. I'm crying while typing this, not only because of his story but because if I put myself in his position, I would be completely devastated. I'm only fourteen, and even though our ages differ, any child would never want to leave the people they love. Zach didn't deserve to die. He was so happy. That's what pains me the most. He had amazing friends and a loving family, but he lost that due to Cancer. I might seem a little naive for saying this, but it's just not fair. Life works in mysterious ways. Unexpected things happen all the time, so take advantage of the moments you have right now, because you'll never be able to get them back. Rest in piece Zach :'(

If you've 22 minutes and 21 seconds to spare, please check out this video. I'm watching this with tears in my eyes, knowing that I come from a family with a history of cancer, not knowing when or if I'll also be diagnosed with the disease, or worse, if that diagnosis will instead be reserved for my children. I've allowed such minor things in life to inconvenience myself and inhibit my own potential for doing greater things. The beginning of this video says that you don't have to "find out you're dying to start living". Let's make beautiful memories with those people whom we love. Let's reinvent ourselves together. Let's go for a run. Let's go to a movie. Let's drink a hot cup of cocoa on a cold winter day. Let's enjoy the laughter of others. Let's console each other after a failure. Let's encourage each other to accept new challenges. So today and for the rest of our lives - let's LIVE.

I AM...I'm here because I just finished watching "Clouds". There have been too many deaths in my family & I don't cry at movies; so I thought. I thought my tears were sad ones but I was releasing this horrible depression that has been hovering over me since this PLANdemic & the lack of fight from americans. This young man reminded me that there ARE people fighting against the forces that are criminals against humanity and I thank you Zach for the pep in my step and reminding me to keep fighting & we're not here to lose. Nicely done!

The people I've watched today on this program are truly remarkable. They've handled their terminal illnesses with Grace, to teach all of us that we can only live for today and to make any of tomorrow's that we may have count. Your lives will not be forgotten because you've truly been the beacon of light that so many need to hear and have seen..Thank you for sharing this part of your lives.. I've been touched to my soul, impressed, and in tears., I'm in am in awe of all your strength and grace as you've fought your unseen enemy. You've each taught me some invaluable lessons and I thank you.. To those that have passed on, I know your walking in the Eternal light where there wili never again be any suffering, tears or pain and where the sun never sers... I will pray your family and friends are walking in the light you left for them here.
