This makes perfect sense, Literally been stuck on a uni project, got just over a week left. Basically restarted it over the last weekend cus I wasn't happy with it, literally pumped out an entire semesters worth of work in a day, what did I do different? Basically put on the Ricky Gervais show and listen to the insane ramblings of Karl Pilkington and just enjoying doing the work for once.

This is 100% true, I do a LOT better on exams when I am less stressed and having a positive attitude going into the test, everything will just suddenly "click" for me and i breeze through it. Sometimes I even remember things in class i never took notes for, that's why i kinda stopped studying and stressing myself last minute and usually play games hours before an exam, get a cup of coffee, and ace that dam thing :)

"If you are happy and you know it, clap your hands."...okay, you don't really have to do that but when you are happy, you gather happy people to you, you make others happy and life is better. Science even backs this...Be Happy!! ♥

When your happy you think of good things happening, you are determined to succeed. when you aren't happy you see everything negatively and you expect things to fail. & whatever vibes you put out in the world usually happens. If you think positive thoughts positive things happen, if you think negative thoughts negative things happen.

Everyone can be happy. I'm a 20 year old who isn't in school and is working 38 hours a week in a broke down dishroom with lazy co-workers who make the job a lot harder than it already is. And I wake up and decide to be happy. Happiness is a choice, you can either get out of bed and complain about who you are and what you have, or be positive and work hard towards better things. You can't do something to bring you happiness if you're in a negative mood, so you're wrong, happiness DOES come first.

What I liked is the "backwards" part - meaning that success doesn't lead to happiness, but happiness leads to success. Of course anyone could say that it's a matter of perspective, depending on the focus. In that case, maybe it works both ways. But still, kudos for thinking outside the box. If success doesn't happen, then at least we have a positive attitude. That in itself is a success.

When you know that you're worthy of love and belong at the end of a long hard day then someone else's opinion about your level of success doesn't matter. Whether or not you got only 10 things done or knocked out your to do list, you'll know that what you got done that day is a bad measure of how happy you are allowed to be.

I'm commenting especially on this video because, I always watch something inspirational or something happy before starting my work or design projects so that it keeps me motivated and keep me happy but mostly importantly I do my work happily though if the work is kinda boring. Love to watch all the videos....and thanks for making me happy like more than 10 times in 5 minutes.

Being sad is bad for my health. Of course I'm aware that being happy makes to do better because of your uplifting attitude, and we your sad you simply don't think clearly. For me, just being optimistic helps. Its not being happy, but its not being sad either. I also try to look for things that make me happy even if it is very temporary.

I know some people who struggle with their feelings. And they cope by shutting them down. They don't let themselves be happy because it makes them vulnerable to being hurt. They don't feel any sadness either. They simply refuse to feel. With all these experiments linked to happiness, can you do an experiment to see if sadness can be linked to happiness... perhaps it might better be said as vulnerability or openness.

Dude, you created an experiment using the scientific method, had a control group and followed through with the experiment very accurately. You were even completely honest about your findings which is more than can be said for most studies; Therefore you are a scientist in my opinion. The only thing a degree says it that you are willing to spend a lot of time and money for a piece of paper that is simply a socially agreed upon and trusted source of recognition for your abilities.

I'd say so. Honestly, nothing puts me in a good mood if I make an expensive mistake during my work day and nothing puts me in a bad mood if I make a brilliant decision. The irony is that I try to dampen my emotion as much as possibly while in the process of buying happiness. Some people, like to say "money doesn't buy happiness". And to me that simply isn't true. For example... No rich person ever spammed a comments section. Poverty = misery. Just look at those spammers go...

I appreciate the video, but I think this study could've used a few more controls. For example, it may not have been the happiness that gave people a boost but a feeling of indebtedness from all the stuff you gave them. They may have felt like working harder in your study because you were nice to them.

I'm guessing that mega George is actually tiny little George. The experiment was great. We all control our own feelings To a point. Choose to be happy. It's a proven fact that even if you force yourself to smile or laugh, it will lighten your mood. Not to mention acknowledging every little good thing that happens to you, from getting a green light, to a beautiful sunset to, a good cup of coffee. These are life's small pleasures. If you get a red light or stuck in traffic, look up!

It'd be interesting to see if you had a THIRD group where you did things to make them less happy. IE small things like a hot room cold room, spill water on them by "accident", stop in and say "Wow, not done yet?", annoying music, people talking on cell phones, and making these "test subjects" wait an extra long time before taking on the experiment.
