"Journaling is like a little door into the madness of my mind." Journaling can be a hard habit to keep up with! Maybe you're like me, and always kept a journal when you were younger. But once I left school, keeping up with my journaling become much more difficult. So, here is my challenge to you... pick up that pen and paper! Any time you're tempted to procrastinate on your phone or laptop, try journaling instead. If you're not quite sure what to write about, here are some prompts to get you started!
Featuring original score by Steve Failows (FLAKJAKT). Check out his channel here: / flakjakt
A letter to:
myself when I need a friend
my pen
my mom when she misses me
who ever I might be in a year (a lot can change)
my best friend in preschool
the attractive barista
a soul mate I might never meet
a version of myself I thought I was going to become
to the me I see in the mirror
to the world during an earthquake
to my mom when I was still in her tummy
to my journal
Write one of these out!...
A list of...
1. My own set of swear words
2. The people I should have said thank you to
3. The best thing I notice around me on a good day.
4. The only places I have really felt alone with you
5. The best compliments I have received
6. The people whose hand book on life I'd like to see
7. The things I'll never tell you!
8. Advice that I have gotten that I haven't yet used (that I probably should / that I probably should never use)
9. Why I shouldn't doubt myself
10. Little ways I could be a better human
11. Emotions

I write in a journal that has no lines, I don't write the date, and sometimes I print and sometimes I write in cursive, and I'll write horizontally and vertically depending on how I feel. It's very freeing to write like this rather than the way schools teach you to write.

It is April of 2023 as I write this... I remember how much I loved So Sonia and when this channel was called Soul Pancake! I liked all these So Sonia videos under an old email/channel I had way back when. I love this 💙✨ and I feel the same way but with photographs 😊 I'm a photo addict, the sky changes everyday, people change, buildings get torn down or remodeled, so I love to snap photos daily to remember things that mean something to me or made me smile or feel any type of emotion. When I develop them I write a few words on the back about why or where I was whenI snapped the photo...you know the obvious details 😊 I hope to go back when I'm older to these photos and that they help me remember how I felt on that specific day, good or bad, it should be nice to go back in time by looking at my photographs :) Thank you for always inspiring us to do greater things Sonia 💙✨ you are amazing and incredibly sweet ❤️✨

I’m 13 and I’ve been journaling since the start of 2016 and I’ve completed 2 big chunky books so far and will hopefully continue to write journals till I’m older, if you’re ever stuck on what to write about here are some journal prompts - Journal prompts ✨☁️ * write about all the zodiac signs. What they are like, have you met any, what they are in your life (best friend, friend etc) * Pick a year, maybe a year you/ friend/family was born find our important things that happened that year. The top song that played on the radio, the movie that won at the Oscars, any notable inventions? * Draw a alternative world. Maybe it’s the same current world but some of the people have horns? Maybe it’s a world in a hour glass? * Are you superstitious? If yes write/draw about your biggest superstition if no, write/draw about one that interests you. * Write/draw about how you feel at 3am. - Hope you find these helpful! Always remember that you don’t need to write about something “important” journaling can be about just letting your emotions out or making something creative it’s really up to you because after all this is YOUR journal and you are in charge just think of it as your space where you can express yourself however you would like! - whenever I’m out of inspiration or just want a creative boost I watch her journal flip through and it gets my juices flowing! I was on Pinterest the other day when I came across a paragraph about journaling and it really inspired me to get back to journaling when I wasn’t really feeling it so here is the paragraph! - I tell everyone this and I mean it. Buy a journal. Carry it with you wherever you go. And I mean everywhere. Write about your favourite moments, your least favourite moments, ideas, grocery lists, people you’ve met, strangers you’ve walked pass on the street, favourite quotes, words to remember, what the sky looked like at 7pm, new songs you’ve discovered and what they mean to you, your childhood, places you want to go to or places you have been, how you feel in the exact moment, draw out the mountains, scribble over the pages and then when it gets full, buy a new one. Reread it in 2 years, 20 years, when you need a good laugh, when you’re crying on the bathroom floor, read it to your children. You need to remember these moments in you’re life. They are so important. - Hope you found all this helpful and remember, all you need is a pen and a journal 😌

Ooh one of my favourite of your beautiful creations! At the start of this year I bought a journal. I didn't set any expectations about how or when I would write (or whether it would be writing or some other way of expressing thoughts) I just thought lets give this a go again. I take the time to keep it looking nice and creative so that when I open it up or flick through the pages I feel clam, happy, pleased, inspired. I've filled most of it now and I'm (gently) aiming to have it filled in time for a new one next year. I know that I'll enjoy having this capsule of the year to look back on. I always wanted to journal growing up, but I was never quite ready or able to keep it up. Always putting unrealistic goals around how to do it. I've done really well this time and it makes me happy. However I had been letting it slip this last month so this video was just the nudge I needed, thanks Sonia x

I use to journal/ write poems / covered my head to toe mirror in paper so I could write on it / sometimes when I would be bored in school write random things. I love the freeness of writing on something and writing the way I like. The writing utensil I use is colorful pens because I like to look back at my journals and just look at how fun and different it does not feel like I am writing an essay. Also I like to cut the papers into different shapes. As you know I also like to write a lot from this story.

Sonia! I loved the video. I started journalling when I was 12 and looking back to those journals I'd usually laugh and wonder how the heck did my parents deal with that angry, angsty little me. I love how you put absolutely no restriction as to what you can put in (words) or literally stick on the papers. I am still a little afraid of doing that.. messing up the pages. My journal is already quite messy even with only scribbles of black ink and yet nothing makes me happier than scribbling on the next page. ps. all the efforts for making this film ! WOW, SONIA

I absolutely love your videos. Those raw doodles and lines and the typography. And perfect set of words. I can relate to you most of the times and look forward to watch your videos💙
