It's ridiculous to be honest. The only max rarity water monster in the game and it doesn't have any useful water genes to speak of. It'd be one thing if we had loads of other options like Seltas Queen or Plesioth but for some reason they aren't even rideable. Two of the three Gene's he comes with aren't practical on him since they aren't his primary damage type and so won't scale off water bingos. Like just one new high damage water move that applies some effect or something would be perfect. They could've just had the fire filled bubbles count as a water attack but with a high chance to burn to make it unique. Or maybe give it a gene that let's it swap it's water and fire attack or even make it's water genes get counted as fire genes for a few turns. What's really sad is the fire gene isn't even a good fire gene. Why have an attack that will detonate later with only a medium chance of burn when I can just use savage fireball and have an immediate high chance of burn?

Throw in Plesioth and Green Plesioth since they're both more physical type water monsters so we get more physical water moves to benefit the fact that Soulseer has high crit. Reason being is what good water genes we got are ranged based and none of them can crit.

Looking at the eggs that I've found I the Water Eggs quest, they've been: Ash Kecha Wacha, Green Nargacuga, Pink Rathian, Mizutsune, and Soulseer Mizutsune. Counting Soulseer as a regular Mizutsune, I noticed that all of these eggs have one thing in common: they all come from the same region. This quest shouldn't be called Water Eggs, it should be called Pomore Gardens Eggs.

@@taurelith4867 indeed, Dragon lacks in monsters but those it gets are strong and have plenty of skills that work great with them. Water does have some great skills, but most of them are supportive rather than useful attack skills.

Out of the main series monsters, there's Lao Shun Lung and Fatalis, none of which are "monstie" viable, far as I can tell. Any other ideas they could bring for dragon element?

What I like about Soulseer is that it gives a water weapon for EVERY class: great sword, sword and shield, hammer, hunting horn, Bow and gunlance. (still pissed that Boltreaver only gives you a bow and a hunting horn, that's it)

I think although you can get pink rathian and lagiacrus eggs they have high chances of gettin a “water” element genes (the blue ones) like evasion skills. I can’t confirm this due to the fact that I had only a couple of explorations, but it could be interesting if that’s the case.

That's not how genes work in this game: there are (from what I know) 8+7 different monstie-type-gene-pools (Normal, Fire, Water, Thunder, Ice, Dragon, Status, Elder D., and Weak Version Pools for each type except the elder dragon tier) each class gives you a specific set of predetermined genes. This means that every single pink rathian (high Fire pool), ash kecha (high Fire pool), Lagiacrus (high thunder pool) etc. you get, has a set amount of skills you can get from them (which in case of fire monsties means 0 Water Monstie Genes) . So no they don't yield you a chance of giving you the water monstie pool genes. I assume Capcom somehow messed up the Water Monstie den and accidentally gave it the regular pomore garden monster egg spawns. Here is a short list of all the Water Gene Pool Monsties in the game; Weak Water Pool: Ludroth, (Regular) Kecha Wacha, Barroth / Strong Water Pool: Cephadrome, Mizu., Purp. Ludroth, Deviant Mizu..

@@arielfiengo Jeah, and i specifically even told you that the fire monsties just somehow happen to NOT even have a single water element gene in their gene pool. Fire monsties don't even drop a water gene (fire monsties do not drop evasion genes nor kinship cost down nor ANY OTHER water gene)

Additonally that means 2(fire) out of 5 monsties the new "water" den drops don't even yield any chance for water genes. Lagiacrus (high thunder pool) and green Narga. (high Normal pool) drop each 2 water genes, however those are not the genes anyone specifically farming for the water monster pool genes needs (like for example Water attack plus, water def. plus, cirt heal, scynchronize etc. are all EXCLUSIVE genes for the water monstie gene pool). The water genes that lagi drops could already be obtained from the thunder den quest they released one month ago.

I would just go for Pump Up or Amplify Power for Soulseer. Better damage. He doesn't bring anything to the table besides being Speed and having slightly stronger stats than Mizutsune. I haven't obtained an Oroshi yet, but so far this update is a bit of a letdown compared to the last one.

I am very creeped out by the fact the soulseer comes out of the egg with it's eyes still intact but when you ride it as an adult it becomes blind. This suggests your Hunter blinds it somewhere in the transition from child to adult.

Fun fact this beast of a monster has one of the largest health pools in the game beating out basically all the elder dragons with a total of over 30,000 hp and hitting for above 400 water damage. So this thing is tanky as hell, hits with aoes, attacks twice when enraged, and counters quite frequently my advice don’t use an ai partner wait for a buddy and pack as many health items as possible and use as many paralysis daggers as possible. He will counter against items but he if he’s paralyzed he can’t counter most of the time and he seems to be easy to put under status effects. If you want to wait out the counter it stops once the bubbles on his claws go away best weapons to use on him are blunt and cutting type weapons aim for his claws to tip him over. Use as many kinships as possible and stun lock him so he doesn’t kill everyone with an aoe because those do all the debuffs and he likes using it a lot so the best option is to use all the potions and let the monsties do the damage patching them up when needed. If you have a thunder weapon use that. So basically buy life powder like how people bought toilet paper when COVID started and bring something that has a high chance of causing paralysis and call it a day. Do keep this thing has a lot of health will not go down quickly so you may want to make sure you have a good bit of free time because it took my lvl 60 party over 30 turns to put this thing down so yeah this to take some time. It’s parts also are kinda hard to break and he has that insane amount of health so unless you are over leveled or have some kind of crit beast that deals all the damage this will be a battle of stamina

Speaking of mitzusune. And it may be just water doing more damage to fire but for some odd reason. Glavenus wasn’t doing much damage to my mitzusune and she wasn’t that much leveled. While she was doing a lot then I expected her to do. So I wanna know, is there like a sort of bonus damage against the fated four if you go against their opposite element. For example mitzu and glavenus? In the end my mitzusune carried me and my current partner.

The one thing on Soulseer Mizutsune I wish wasn't made irrelevant was his high crit chance. The majority of what water genes we have are ranged attacks which will not crit. Maybe if we had Namielle, Plesioth, Green Plesioth, and Nibelsnarf as monsties they'd definitely have physical hitting water attacks. Otherwise I just use Pump Up, Merciless and Harmony genes to compensate for the lack of being able to crit reliably. I'd trade this diet Soulseer for Plesioth.

I know a lot of people were underwhelmed, but I think he's really cool. Definitely a powerful, badass, and all-round good monstie. And I'm honestly just grateful he's in at all, I'm not underwhelmed even remotely. Disappointed in the genes, I was hoping for a really good water aoe move for pvp, also would have liked an ice and water skill similar to valient flare/azure voltage, kirin got ice aura which is useless, it adds skillseal to your attacks and waste a turn doing it, almost every ice attack already has skillseal, then they added a aor ice move that cost 48, we already had several from velkhana that did that. Still very sick design on kirin and at least the stats are good on mizu, although she dont look alot diferent to me.

I don’t know how to feel about this. The water buff and fire trap are fine, but the non elem attack is weird. And even then, you have thunder and fire with amazing buff moves, then water gets shafted. I don’t know if ice gets anything like valiant flare yet, but if it does, this just confirms capcom just hate water lmao.

If the baby soul seer can actually see, does that mean we blind it before we actually ride it? Also why didnt they just give Hellblade and Boltreaver the same treatment as Soulseer and Elderfrost but giving them the other weapon types they they didnt have like GS, GL, S&S, and Hammer for Bolt and GS and HH for Hellblade? It feels very odd for half the Fated 4 to just have all weapon classes covered and the other to have a select few.

So this was my first time ever fighting Soulseer as I never played GU, and my god I love him. His whole fiery eye mechanic is cool, his armor looks absolutely stunning, and the best part, his Greatsword. The Mizutsune Greatsword is my favorite weapon design out of any weapon in Monster Hunter, I adore it. Was surprised to find out it’s a speed monstie and not technical like the normal one but I don’t mind one bit.

soulseer kinda made me loose all my high hopes, I was really expecting good and cool new genes but uh... well lets not jump to conclusions maybe soulseer is made for pvp idk, elder frost is good at a certain level about level 50-60 then when you get way up there she is kinda really good especially with the build I have with her rn, still working on one with soulseer but it is pretty hard because idk what to go off of or what to put on soul seer, maybe crit xl and water boost xl with a little bit of fire boost xl, and they maybe some of old mizu moves, idk, havent even toucher oroshi yet because the darn thing is hard to find.

@@enderluke there is literally one water move that can crit, any crit boosting genes on a water monster is useless unless you actually plan on relying entirely on an attack that deals recoil damage. I would instead recommend any other kind of attack or damage boosting gene.

The Water Egg den is actually way worse than I thought it would be; here I was at least expecting to just get a bunch of Kecha Wacha, Royal Ludroth/Purple Royal Ludroth, and Cephadrome (lol) eggs; but nope. Having stocked up on Pink Rathians for Valiant Flare genes, its actually kinda annoying to see her eggs pop up when I really wanted a way to just farm water moves. My only assumption as to why they did this didn't give us a water buff move like Valiant Flare is that Soulseer Mizutsune REALLY works well with evasion passive stacking, so they might've thought pairing that with defense as well may have been too much? Even then; its a huge missed opportunity for water monsties. Here's hoping we do get an expansion that fills out the roster a little.

I actually didn't think the fight was that bad... Reverto usually survives. I save two kinship skills for denying blue moon and that makes the fight easy.

Yeah Elderfrost Gammoth unfortunately just got regular Gammoth's ice armor and two new AoE ice attacks. Elderfrost doesn't even beat out Velkhana in raw ice damage (and certainly not crit) and Kush is better simply due to the fact Kush has maxed out crit potential while still having the same raw ice damage and nearly identical defenses as Elderfrost. I guess Elderfrost is slightly better than Kush as a tank with higher HP but that's about it. P.S. - If Elderfrost had maxed out raw ice damage then it would have an advantage over Velkhana and Kush like Rajang does over Boltreaver Astalos, Thunderlord Zinogre and Kirin. Also note that Kush's kinship gives out a defense buff to allies on top of doing AoE. So not even Elderfrost's kinship can compare to Kush.

Wait does this with deviant hatching actually make sense. I just mean deviants get deviants when they were younger they had a bad interaction with a hunter (except thunderlord I think) so when you hatch a deviant does that mean that you are making the monsters a deviant

Not going to lie i played multiplayer fighting Soulseer monstie. We had 5 minutes left and almost took it down, but my partner decided to use her kinship skill that didnt KO her (instead of continuously healing me and having me chip away at her health) we were close to defeating her, but she hits like a truck. Once she covers herself with bubbles, it becomes insanity

I was pretty disappointed in everything about this monstie. I have a very powerful regular Mizu but Soulseer just doesn't have what I'm looking for besides water element offense. Armor, weapons, and genes disappointed me...

It's really sad seeing Mizutsune done dirty like that. He's still an amazing monstie, don't get me wrong but he is seriously lacking in the water genes department. Hopefully we can get Amatsu, Namielle and Coral Pukei in an expansion or simply past the roadmap who will give water the genes it desperately needs.

I'm sure if any developer was asked the answer would be no, the Rider does not blind it, since Riders aren't supposed to do things like that. I would rather they just be hatched blind, but the lore of Soulseers is that they aren't born blind so I guess the developers were stuck.
