I just discovered Dirty Loops a few weeks ago through my slightly less recent discovery of Jacob Collier (he’s a whole other story you’ll be equally blown away by). My reaction has - and still is - just like yours. Your genuine shock and appreciation was beautiful to witness :-) I’ve quickly realized that Dirty Loops is the most talented, most exciting, and coolest band on the planet. I’m looking forward to your journey, I’ll subscribe so I can take it along with you. Here are the songs you should check out: Work Shit Out Follow the Light (with Cory Wong) Breakdown Hit Me Thriller (MJ cover) Turbo (with Cory Wong) Baby (Justin Bieber cover) Run Away …many more Jonah Nilsson, the leader singer/keyboard player has equally amazing solo stuff too: Diamond Ring Bad (MJ cover) Coffee Break (with Richard Bona)

Thanks for this lovely reaction! 💚 It's always fun to see someone discovering Dirty Loops for the first time, and have their minds blown by this insanely competent power house of a group. They started the group as a hobby project in 2008, making twisted jazz fusion covers of top 40 songs, and never thought it would be anything other than that. In 2010 they put up a video on youtube (a cover of Lady Gaga's "Just Dance"), as a booking reference, to see if they could get a gig or two, just for fun, as they thought their music was way too unsexy for anyone to actually like it. Needless to say, they were completely wrong. The video went viral and a LOT of people absolutely loved it. Just about everything they've ever released is of this ridiculous musical quality, so if you consider checking out more of them, you could basically pick anything, and you more than likely won't be disappointed. And believe it or not, they're just as stupidly good live. They've all known each other and played together for 20+ years by now, in their late thirties. Jonah (keyboard/vocals) and Henrik (bass) even went to music elementary school together and met when Henrik was 11 and Jonah was 9. Aron (drums) comes from another part of Sweden and came along when he moved to Stockholm at the age of 16, to attend the same music high school as they did (he was in the year between the other two). Then they all attended Kungliga Musikhögskolan (Royal College of Music) in Stockholm, where Henrik and Aron studied jazz/rock, and Jonah opted for music production (iirc) as his main subject. A cool thing about this song is that ALL the backing vocals are Jonah. Henrik said the following about writing and recording this song, in an interview in Bass Magazine: Bass Magazine: "“Next to You” has a cool, halftime-shuffle feel and a gospel choir component." Henrik: "That song took forever to write. Aron and I wrote the chorus in 2016. We found it in a drawer and tried a bunch of new verses with it until we got the right one. Then at the last minute, Aron wrote the gospel choir parts. He sent a very funny demo in which he marked where all the different gospel parts come in and what kind of voice they had. When Jonah recorded them, he had a chalkboard with all the different characters in the choir, and he distorted his voice to match each character and so none of them would sound like him. The groove has our typical, swung-funk, triplet feel, but the key is the Bootsy funk formula of having a heavy one to make all the subdivisions after it work. Aron wrote the chorus bass line, which is keyboard bass-like, and it worked best with a combination of fingers and slapping." My personal favourite is one of their more jazz fusion-y pieces, "Work Shit Out", which showcases both Jonah's piano skills and Aron's insane drum chops, but if you want something featuring Jonah's voice, I'd recommend "Breakdown" or their first released own composition "Hit Me". If you want to see what Henrik can do to a bass, go for their latest release "Run Away", or a track from their collab album with Cory Wong named "Follow the Light". "World on Fire" and their cover of Justin Bieber's "Baby" also have insane bass solos. Welcome down the rabbit hole that is Dirty Loops! 😁

@lottawiklund8606 Hi Lotta! I am the one who requested Adrianna react to this. I gave her a little bit of DL’s background; like how Jonah does ALL the vocals (despite Henrik & Aron miming in the video) & their incredible talent with respect to their skills on their instruments, but nothing as in depth as what you wrote. Wanted to thank you for sharing their story not only to Adrianna but her subscribers as well! 💜

@lottawiklund8606 You’re so welcome! I am OBSESSED with them, only just discovering them about 3 months ago. You are right. It’s ridiculous how many times I’ve listened to their songs lol. They are phenomenal!! “Talented” doesn’t begin to describe them. To be able to play their instruments at the world class level that they do would be amazing enough, but then throw in Jonah’s incredible vocals, their songwriting, and how they’re involved in the entire process, arrangements, editing their videos, etc…omg! It’s crazy how insanely gifted they are! I knew Adrianna would love them & her reaction pretty much confirmed that. 😂 I also recommended the Snarky Puppy/Lalah Hathaway “Something” video. They also blow me away with their world class musicianship! You have a great weekend you lucky Swede lol. How awesome to have DL as your countrymen! 😊

Great reaction! Buckle your seatbelt, they'll keep surprising you for a long time. Incredible musicians. Breakdown is another great one for Jonah's vocals - but you've got to hear what Henrik (bass) and Aron (drums) are capable of, too. A great starting point for Henrik is Follow the Light (Run Away, when you're braced and ready) and Work Shit Out to get a solid sampling of Aron. These guys are insanely good musicians, but they don't do hard stuff for the sake of it being hard to do - it's in the service of the song, the rhythm and beat. Big difference from a lot of top rated musicians.

It's crazier than you think: Every voice you hear is the lead singer Jonah, he created that insane wall of vocals himself. They certainly are maximalist in nature, but this song is the craziest kitchen sink they've thrown at us so far. Not every song of theirs has the symphonic scope of a Bohemian Rhapsody. They always break your musical brain though. And always with a super accessible pop sensibility at its core.

Hi sweetie! Oh my goodness me lol! SO much to tell you so buckle up! 😂 1st: TY for reacting to my suggestion of Dirty Loops! I knew you would love them & your reaction was EVERYTHING! Lolol. Jonah (keyboards, vocals) has one of the best male voices, if not the best imo out there & that’s saying a lot. Incredible tone, range, riffs, runs, control; he’s got it ALL. The most mind blowing thing is ALL the vocals (except for one track “Rock You” that I’ve heard so far) are done by him. He layers them. ALL. So everything you heard on this song, including the choir verses is Jonah. Aron & Henrik are just having fun, miming in the video. If you listen to more of their music (and I hope you will cuz I have yet to hear a bad song from them) you will see they inject a lot of humor in their videos & they’re always smiling & having a great time. So infectious. All 3 are ridiculously talented and skilled at playing their respective instruments. Truly elite musicians. The fact that Jonah sings & plays keyboards at the same time is amazing. Very difficult to do. You really can’t go wrong picking any of their songs. Most of them are uptempo but I’m a ballad, slow song girl & 2 achingly beautiful slow songs of theirs are “Breakdown” and “Crash & Burn Delight”. Would love for you to react to them but I know you’ve got a list a mile long so don’t miss listening to them for yourself. And yes, you’re correct about Jonah sounding like MJ. Dirty Loops is managed by the legendary Quincy Jones. Just listen to their cover of “Thriller”. You can also hear a young Stevie Wonder at times when he sings as well. Ok now I want to talk about your Costa Rica vlog. Gurl: I. LOVED. IT!!!! Oh. My. GOD!! The 1st reaction I listened to today was Fiji feat J Boog. INSTANTLY took me straight to Costa Rica lol. The vibe was incredible. Loved everything about that song. I also liked Jamali. The vocals were very good, especially the last girl, as you mentioned. Back to your vlog. Your friend Charlie Smith said something in one of his reactions about how he feels like he knows someone thru comments left on his channel that he responds to, even tho he’s never met them (and never will) & that’s how I feel about you. When you do a reaction & it’s over I sometimes feel a little sad because they are relatively short & I want to spend more time with you lol. You know how I feel about you. I simply ADORE you! So watching your vlog gave me almost an hour with you in a completely different format and I loved every second of it! 1st of all you (and your girlfriends) are so beautiful!! You glowed in that video, your happiness undeniable. Young, vibrant gorgeous Black queens. All of you. 💜 2nd: You’ve got some mad video/editing skills. It looks like something you’d see in a professional travel show. I can’t take a good picture or video to save my life lol. I was drawn in from the very beginning & loved every second of it! Again, I hated for it to end but at least it was much longer than your reactions lol. The visuals were stunning. I have several friends that have visited Costa Rica & a couple who have retired there. They rave about it. I have GOT to go now that I’ve watched your vlog. Good Lord. The beauty of the island, your hotel, the food, the excursions. I want it all lol. Well….maybe not the boat ride. I too get queasy on the ocean but maybe some anti sea sickness meds would help lol. It’s not too bad. I don’t 🤮but I’m def uncomfortable. And it doesn’t continue once I’m back on land. And no ziplining. I’m too old for that lol. I’ve been to Jamaica & the Caribbean and I love the island vibe, the people, and the music, so I’m putting Costa Rica on my list of places to visit. And soon. Lol. It was wonderful to see you not only having a fantastic time but I’m soooo proud of you that you are continuing on your journey of self growth & facing your fears. Pushing yourself out of your comfort zone, only to find out your fear wasn’t as bad as you thought it might be. Allowing yourself to experience new things, even if you’re a little uncomfortable sometimes shapes your personality and gives you confidence. Something we as females don’t always have an abundance of. So kudos to you my love for smashing those boundaries that can sometimes hold us back from our true selves. As you said, life is short. Would be a shame to miss out on all it has to offer because of fear. 💜 Like I said it was amazing to see you in a setting other than your reaction videos. Getting to see that side of you made me very happy. You’re also funny and I laughed thru out the video. You’re just so down to earth and I also love the sound of your voice! Lol I’m so glad you and your friends had a wonderful time. Traveling is rejuvenating and good for the soul. Lastly I want to Ty for your sweet comments about me. Never fear. I won’t ever change lol. Too set in my ways lol. Like you, what you see is what you get. I wear my heart on my sleeve & believe in kindness, tolerance and love. Wish more people did too. World would be a much better place. But I can only be responsible for myself. Anyway, my love. You take care & stay safe. Your American Memaw always watches over you from afar & you’re always in my prayers. 💜 P.S. I noticed you were a little “sassy” in your reactions this week. 😂 LOVE IT!! Confidence is a beautiful thing! See you next Sunday sweetie. 💜 P.P.S. Just wanted to mention Charlie Smith has a playlist of 11 DL reactions so that tells u how impressed he is with them lol. Also they are quirky (in a good way). They say having fun is very important to them & it shows in their videos. They smile & laugh a lot. They start & end most of their songs completely different than what is expected. Like how u thought your headphones were malfunctioning. 😂 A lot of their songs end abruptly, out of nowhere, leaving you wanting more! Also, a lot of their songs have credits at the end that are worth reading if u have a minute. They’re pretty funny. Some of them are inside jokes only Swedish ppl would know tho. Also, if u decide to react to more of their songs, “Breakdown” is one of their rare ballads & is being heavily recommended by your subscribers. It’s a MUST listen to. However they have a lesser known ballad “Crash & Burn Delite” I love even more than Breakdown. Omg it’s soooo beautiful. DL are masters of so much. Their instruments, vocals, arrangements, editing their videos, done by Aron (drummer), songwriting. Their lyrics (which I’m a huge fan of as u know) are some of the best out there. Henrik does things on the bass that have professional bass players dumbfounded & not wanting to play anymore lolol. And Aron’s drumming skills are otherworldly. Same for Jonah on keyboards. In 1 vid he’s playing a Baby Grand piano, a synth keyboard & singing all at the same time. 🤯 Their catalog is pretty large so please react to the suggestions we’ve recommended if you can. Even if you have to do one every week like AJ lol. Trust me, you won’t regret it. Your subscribers are clamoring for more!! Your comment about them being in a league of their own was spot on. They are world class elite musicians who sound like no one else out there. So glad I stumbled across them. OBSESSED! Another quick note; In an interview Jonah says he considers himself as a keyboardist 1st & vocalist 2nd. He says when DL first started out he wasn’t sure he was good enuf to be a lead singer. 🤦🏽‍♀️ Lolol Anyway my love, just wanted to add a few more interesting facts about DL. One more thing. If u do decide to react to Crash & Burn Delight there is only an audio video. Take care!! 💜 I keep adding in to this cuz I keep forgetting to tell u stuff lol. When you commented about White men being able to sing & having soul then did your little hand gestures? Girlllll you had me ROFLMAO!!! You are too funny! 🤣 Also Jonah mentioned in an interview he grew up listening to both MJ & Stevie Wonder & you can def hear their influences on him; Stevie when Jonah does riffs/runs & MJ when he sings. Just listen to Thriller, Bad & Follow The Light. So good. Lastly for sheer joy, pls watch KZbinr “Drumming With Jarvis” react to Next To You. Omg. He is awesome. Best stank face EVER. High energy. Great insights. Funny as hell. “Sesame chicken with the sauce! Granny in the front with the tambourine. He was here!!” The best reaction from a pro musician I’ve ever seen. This is so long it won’t let me type anymore. 😂

Jonah and his vocals SLAY!!! Thanks for one delicious reaction, Adrianna 🙏 And thanks so much to the person suggesting it, too :) Quincy Jones, on who’s management board Dirty Loops are sitting, said of Jonah: “This cat’s got it all. He’s got soul, with one of the biggest ranges I’ve ever heard.” And although I’ve long heard how Jonah is layering all of the vocals on this track by himself, I nearly drove up a telegraph pole when listening to it in my car yesterday!! 😱 Even Jonah’s hummed vocals during the credits, I could listen to those for hours…. That bass and drums tho as well, that groove 🔥🔥🔥 Check out their cover of “Thriller”, or their songs “World on Fire”, “Breakthrough”, anything really, cause it’s all sublime ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Thanks again for this 👍🙏

(There also is a live performance of Genesis at the Capital Summer Ball, and it's great, as Raye is one of those who are even better live, but the MV for Genesis is a work of art in itself and you should watch it, very heart warming, part iii i.e....)
