You are able to buy it with gold, you don't need real money. The problem is, if they make it unlockable through content, it must be very hard content and not everybody is able to get it, or people who bought the last one will start to complain, that they spend so much gold or real money to get it, and now it's for free. I read a comment somebody was complaining that it's still too cheap, because he paid more for the other AH-mount. 😂 Too many envious people in wow. I guess this is the best way to make it accessable to everyone, you can earn it with gameplay by farming gold. And it's cheaper than the last AH-mount when paid with gold.

It's better that way so that the actual expansion is monetized by content sales, unlike live service cod that has become a micro transaction hellscape just to release half baked content drops and overpowered weapons behind a battle pass grind in order to either encourage engagement or pay to get it early, just for it to be balanced a week or two later around the time a normal player would unlock it

people used to pay gold cap on the BMAH. now it's 90$ usd. or 6 wow tokens. 6 wow tokens generally = 1.2 - 1.5 million gold. you have 1 month to farm 1 and a half million gold. it's very doable, i have 200k days just while gathering. No i'm not defending blizz. It's absolute nonsense. But it's a much more achievable goal within this 1 month for people never willing to buy an ingame mount with $$ (that's how i got hogrus, i just grinded gold for a token.. )

Thanks for the balanced perspective - celebrating the 30th anniversary with a buggy patch and a shameless cash grab shows how far Blizz has fallen. I was really enjoying TWW, especially the launch but this has killed it for me. Imagine the mount was 2.5 million gold and at the end of a long quest chain. It would still drive token sales and provide some real gameplay that made you feel accomplished for getting it. I’d feel great about that. As a Microsoft shareholder I love how they did it, but as a player I feel deflated. They know putting it on the store for $90 would cost them some goodwill. They made the right business decision but personally they killed my passion for TWW. I quit WOW for about a year and a half because of the TBC classic lizard store mount that made it so you couldn’t see the floor in Shattrath. I can’t see the floor in Dornogal either because of the AH mounts, and all I can think about is the ghost of Bobby Kotick, not Xalatath and Jaina and Thrall. Time for another hiatus.

TWW has been off to a great start and I love your content. It was going to take a lot to kill my passion for TWW…and a $90 store brutosaur that required zero in-game effort was it. Prestige mounts used to indicate effort and dedication, something that deepened the fantasy of the world. Every time I see one of these all I can think about is boardrooms, shareholders and mansions in the hills above Seattle and Irvine, California where the Blizz and MS headquarters are. I wish I could just ignore them but they are literally everywhere.

The shop brutosaur is much cheaper when you pay with gold, last time I checked it was 2 mil gold. If the price is going up, just wait until it starts to fall, then buy the tokens when it's cheap enough. You have time until beginning of next year to farm the gold.

This COULD have been a reward for doing the anniversary content. This COULD have been free, where for exampel u could get a gem for each expansion u own to put on the mount. There was ALOT of other options here. Even that some of the money went to a charity or even that u got ingame play time for free. But instead they went the super greedy way, not even an innovetive fun way. Supporting this does not only mean accept the price tag, but u also accept the absolute lack of design and creativity that COULD have been made. Its not good enough for the price. Simple as that. Its not a point of view, its not depending on the buyer, its just plane obvious.

NGL, I kinda like the idea of there being an advantage to having alts. I help out a buddy with his monthly sub (for 10 yrs now) and things he REALLY wants, which is rare. I feel blessed to be able to brighten someone's day even if it is in a game. There are some things I buy and some I don't. I will buy this even though I spent 5m gold in BFA to get the other one. Why? Because I want it and because I budget for pixel stuff. I don't go to Starbucks daily or eat out or whatever. So I do, even in this abysmal economy, have a little bit of spending money to indulge in this mount or a pedicure (because I can't do "girly" stuff) or get that little thing that makes someone who's ill or hurting have a little bit of sunshine in their day. So above and beyond that, the question is how do we get a mount like that obtainable for those who can't or won't pay for it? If it's through some quest or cheev, you know Blizz is gonna make it REALLY tough to get. So imo, perhaps make it an either or: buy it or run through the quest or cheev line to get it. Honestly, I think it'd be super cool if Blizz had some sort of reward for loyal players above and beyond the mount packs you can either buy or get through 12 month subs. I think players who've played "x" amount of times would be THRILLED to get a similar mount, albeit not as shiny but has the same function...you know, kinda like the lfr, normal, heroic and mythic raid gear.

Something I almost never see anyone talk about is that if you do not have The War Within, that cuts out two thirds of the tokens you can earn in a week. And say for some reason you're playing on a trial character, well that cuts your access to being able to do tokens even more. My point is, this feels less of a celebration event and more of something someone in marketing is taking advantage to boost recurring subs and log in engagements.

$90 Brutosaur reminds me of Warframe’s $90 Zenith bundle. Main difference is that Warframe is completely F2P and that Digital Extremes made the bundle better since everyone knew it was overpriced. It’s only recent, but I don’t know if Blizzard is going to make it actually worth the $90.

140 dollars, not including the murloc exclusive they announced as well, and meanwhile the absolute max bronze each week is 35, meaning even if you do absolutely everything every week both in Tanaris AND in the expansion, on top of all your other stuff, you STILL won't be able to afford everything at the event, unless you do a bunch further stuff on top of that after unlocking the achievement to make some daily tasks drop them as well. Feels far more like a chore and a cash grab than actual fun, at this point.

Yea sometimes not everything has to be available for everyone and that's the argument that many have, that everything should be counted as "the base game". But we have had collectors edition stuff and exclusive content for god knows how long. If someone wants exclusive collectors edition stuff, they can always pay more it. For the rest of us who can't be bothered about it, we just pay and play the base game without those exclusive content. We have never went "we didn't pay the extra but we also demand the extra content available for us" before. We used to understand it's ok to pay for extra content. Now pockets of the internet are in arms expecting everything should be available to everyone at the same price. That doesn't mean I agree with how Blizz is handling things this event. Shop-saur is fine. It's one mount, barely any work needed. Just a simple recolour. But for the volume of the other stuff, then yes they are trying too much to milk value out of the players at the expense of actually working on the game. The buggy scaling in BRD for example.

IMO the min-maxers are the problem. The whole idea of "if I do everything I can get 46 tokens this week" is a toxic way to look at the event. The intent wasn't to have us do all the things every day for 3 months, it was to provide every play style with ways to get some tokens doing what they like to do. I hate PVP so I won't be doing Korrak's Revenge. I don't like to raid so I probably will skip the whole BRD raid. And Strat frankly gives me PTSD still. I'm sure I'll get some achievements and some fun stuff, but I still have threads to tie back together dammit!

My only issue with the new 90 buck mount is: 1) buying the TWW xpac with all bells and whistles is roughly the same price. A whole expac with bells and whistles vs an AH mount??? 2) The economy and just before the holidays seems a bit cooperate of them especially considering the price, greed perhaps? 3) limited time, when it could have been something unlocked for players in game thru gameplay/ achivo. all the years subbed and buying expacs this doesn't FEEL so rewarding or fomo. all that being said, i will likely ghet it as a gift for my husband cuz he has a major case of the FOMO for it. They have been too defensive with the design. “Come to enjoy the 20th anniversary by doing every possible weekly in a day and wait until next reset” does not feel good at all. On top of that, it means there is no real TWW content for at least 4-5 months since launch and as good as the Tier 2 appearances are we do need to progress through the expansion.

I was so looking forward to celebrate this anniversary. It looked so cool and fun and I planned a lot to get free time to play it. Wow, what a dissapointment... Do a few quests and then continue doing your daily chores as usual til next week. I dont raid or do dungeons so this all was not meant for me even tho Ive been here since the beginning. (I dont care about the shopmount, they crossed that line long ago. Im doing fine as is. Good for those who wanted it.) In a way Im good because I was a bit sad about missing a lot of my new favorite mmo TaL that is so fun and totally honest of beeing a p2w but never shoves it up your throat. So everything is fine I guess :)

Honestly, the mount probably should of never been added as they said they wouldn't, but I would agree the content of this particular patch is pretty boring as opposed to the high level of pay content that came along with it. Don't get me wrong some level of pay content that has been going on is fine. Monthly x mog sets? Sure. I am not sore about the mount, I think its shitty but over all unsurprising. I DO think the thing that is less talked about here is the price and the added FOMO. That is 1000% even more unacceptable because not only are you locking a mount that should have a equivalent to get in game, but you push people to buy fast in the time where money is the tightest for some AND prevent any players who would buy it from getting it because some people just can't save up the money now for it. I think that is REALLY where it gets dirty. to many people bought the mount and tokens resulting from the mount for them to feel any reasonable backlash from this though. We have basically insured more features like this in the future, so strap in.

The bronze tokens are a pretty nasty and boring grind. Feels like I’m being punished rather than celebrating something. And tbh we do actually have 6 month seasons - no one sees it because they always add a mid season patch that feels like a new season but the season cadence is about the same as Shadowlands.

Yknow what this was the smartest mount to ever put on the shop for 90$ the only mount in the game with a mobile auction house. Pay 90$ for it to skip and pay to win. Or pay 35-40 wow tokens to pay 500-600$. Or 300$ on third party sites for gold cap and wait a month for it to hit your bmah just for someone else to gold cap it before you can locking you from buying it. Yeah no. ALSO 60% of all owners of a longboy NEVER EARNED IT they bought it through gold buying on third party sites. But for them to charge at all for any of these mounts is bs. If nobody bought that dam celestial horse in wrath of the lich king we wouldnt be here right now. Just keep that in mind. The playerbase who could buy the pretty horse. Got the pretty horse. In all honesty if they made this a permanent store mount, I wouldn't care as much (still against it) but the fact its a FOMO mount for almost more than DOUBLE the cost of the game, its a joke. Adding the mailbox to it is a massive slap in the face to anyone who saved 5 MILLION GOLD for a mount that was supposedly never coming back (other than BMAH). Idc what people do with their money, but this is a joke. Patch broke the game, launched in a terrible state that reverted some classes buffs/nerfs, screwed up raid bosses and mechanics, broke some classes tier sets, and is FULL of lag? Meanwhile guilds are still missing entire banks, toons are locked from play stuck in transfers, and people are reporting not being able to complete some of the world events. But hey we should focus on defending blizz for making a $90 store mount and glance over the rest of the issues. EZ L BLIZZ. EZ L.
