We have Tanner's 2015 GMC Sierra in the shop and we're doing some foundation work before the sound system gets installed. We asked our friend's at STP Canada (Standartplast) what would be the best products for our application. So we applied their Aero product to the roof for its performance and low amount of weight applied to the inside roof of the truck.

Good job! I'm a strong advocate of sound deadening especially if you're an audiophile that wants the best performance from your cars Stereo.

just went through this on my Sierra this past weekend... you forgot to mention how hard it is to get the liner back in by yourself! Definitely recommend having a buddy help. I added a layer of 3M Thinsulate 90 and I also added some siless closed cell foam where the plastic supports from the liner jutting out will vibrate against the roof. The combination has made huge difference with respect to sound and heat in the cab. The cable runs now sit between the thinsulate and closed cell foam and won't make any noise as I did not hot glue them back to the liner.

Nice! I have the same truck, 2018, and that roof skin is about as strong as aluminum foil. I actually put a little divet in it trying to polish out a bird poop stain by hand.

Putting a strong sound deadener will help a bit. Plus get rid of the rain noise

About to do my 2017 Dodge Ram and it’s nice to know you can work around the headliner without taking it out completely. I have a 5.5 cubic foot box in the cab with an 18” sub and it’s hell to move in and out :)

Does roof need 100% coverage. Or anything lower shall be optimum. Also along with a PE foam sheet.
@AnthonyJ350

100% coverage isn't necessary, cover as much as you can and you'll notice a difference.

A Honda Accord sounds as solid as a Cadillac when compared to how cheap they're making the Chevy trucks. I can't believe my brand new vehicle sounds like the door is gonna break off. Yes the panels flex a bit.

how much does something like this cost? just for materials
@AnthonyJ350
@AnthonyJ350 3 жыл бұрын
Material is cheap, one box you saw us working with is $2-$300 depending on grade of material. One box can do the roof and 4 doors if you're efficient laying it out.
