Thanks gents from Australia. Will use this video as a reference. I have a different vehicle.

good idea to use the backing paper for future panel cutouts

I plan to use KillMat on doors and hatch areas but I wonder for the cargo/spare tire area if it would be easier to use a sprayable product... due to the spare tire well not being flat. Did you not do the rear hatch? That's one of the biggest hollow areas of the Forester.

If you have the roller to apply the KillMat, it shouldn't be hard to do the cargo/spare tire area. I think the sprayable product is more work as you have to make sure it doesn't overspray. We did the rear hatch, it wasn't too bad to remove the hatch panel. It definitely makes a lot of difference as even when you close the trunk, the sound is much better.

@@kevinshin07 Thanks so much. Can you give me some basic steps on how to start removing the panels of the hatch? I am a bit nervous to start that part

@shrimpu there should be videos on KZbin you should be able to follow. Make sure to do it with plastic trim removal tool if it's your first time

Great job! How many sq ft of the Kilmat did you use?
@kevinshin07 Жыл бұрын
Thanks! I used about 25sq/ft of the Kilmat. I used a lot of leftover ones to fill small areas.

I was hoping you would have treated the rusted area prior to application, but you did not. Rust converter, POR-15, something. Instead, you just covered it with a sheet of Killmat, so now it will continue to rust underneath the deadener. You'll probably need to do this under the seats and in the footwells too. Another item to help block sound is that cut-denim textile mat looking stuff and place that under the rear floor cover. You might see puffy cloth like stuff on the panels. that puffy stuff is supposed to help block sound (but doesn't deaden panel resonance)

Did it make any difference? Decibel measurements before and after?
@kevinshin072 жыл бұрын
I didn't measure decibels but when you are driving, there is less road noise and wind noise.
