Stephen Carpenter was the first that truly drawn me to 7 strings and lower tunings. In my opinion he has one of the best tones out there. I do think you got really close but what really made his tone complete was Chi Cheng's bass sound. It melted perfectly into Stephens sound. And yes, play many add9 chords and you basically get there.

That guitar was the first guitar I bought. (Had a Squier Affinity with a JB Jr. and a silver lace in the middle before that :)) Saved up for the Stef in high school and I’ve always really liked it. Put a burstbucker in the bridge and finally put a STK-S7 in the neck this past year bc I’m all about a neck single coil for clean. I think it needs some smaller (maybe stainless?) frets and something different in the middle and I’ll be set. That thing looks so rad though and I lit up seeing it in a thumbnail 😄.

Does the JMP-1 have build in speaker impulses that it's using for the sound? The "room sound" was TOTALLY different for the rack unit, and honestly not particularly flattering...it sounded like an SM-57 in a concrete room. The JVM sounded normal.
@cjwallgor Жыл бұрын
No IR’s - it was released way before using and creating IR’s became so common; which as a producer/mix engineer of 15 years, I’ve seen it become a more recent development and the “norm” for a lot of people. Back in the early to mid 2000’s it was either using real amps and cabs, using a PodXT or using Pod Farm in the DAW with it’s algorithmic cabs (which I’ve always used for tracking). Not much else was available! But these days, you could pair the JMP-1 with your favorite power amp emulation and IR loader! 😊

I love these videos! But why is this happening? to me the JVM sound more "professional" "fat" "big" overall. You are using the same power stage (JVM), would you say is it just the design of the JMP vs de JVM? any super major difference in the components? I mean they´re pretty darn close, but if I had to choose I´d say JVM blindfolded.
@lucascosta88116 күн бұрын
