I was 14 and my friends were 15 at the time. We pooled our money to buy this drum machine at Standard’s Music in the Southland Mall... It was an organ and piano store complete with the cheesy guy in a light blue suit playing songs for little old ladies walking by. It was our drummer. We’d discuss beats by going, “I want the beat to go ‘boop boop cheep’ not ‘boop cheep boop’”. The above programmer would have blown our stoned little minds.

I had the Boss DR-55 around this time (early 80s) but always wanted one of these. It's the artificial quality of the sounds that makes it special.
