SOUND PROOFING MY SUZUKI JIMNY: SHOULD YOU DO IT?

Hey hey and welcome back! In this video I'll be showing you how I've soundproofed my Suzuki Jimny JB74 2021 model. There are many ways to do this however this is the best I could come up with but it has worked very well so far, and will be updating everyone via Instagram/KZbin later on when I can review the sound proofing a bit more.

Hi there, Got a Jimny too. I see you put a lot of effort into the sound proofing. One of the most important things about sound proofing is that the material has to make contact with the metal itself for it to be working. For example on the sides, you should have put it on the hole, under those wires for it to work, as its job is to reduce vibration when in contact with the metal, when it is not in contact with it, it does nothing. that applies for all the car, the only important thing to avoid covering is the ventilation, as that is where the AC gets air from when not recirculating.

@@ExploreJimny No problem. I hope it didn't sound too much like a harsh critique now that I read it (not my main language). Yes, I would expect around 2 Dbs less. When I did it on mine it felt like night and day, specially with MT tyres.

@@furiousdoe7779 there are some brands on the car audio industry that sell those materials. If you want to do it on the cheap I know people that used roof flashing with great results.

Good job. Your audience may not know that decibels are measured on an exponential scale in the base of 10, A 3 DB drop is half of the original noise. I think that is quite satisfactory. Keep up the good work.

Just a tip. Your rear seat belts should unclip at the seat base. Use your ignition key to unclip the belt from it's lower buckle. Then is spools up and you use the little Velcro straps to hold the top and lower buckles secure in the fully retracted position.

Interesting. First time see such method. I use vibro and sound proofing materials separately. Can you send a link to that thing which holding a seat belts? Thank you.

Another tip is to use Celotex Insullation foam board...it comes in various thicknesses...great for the back of your jimny that you initially covered.

Do you hear much wind noise upfront at all? I have a front runner rack installed and I am not sure if its just general noise that I am hearing or the rack causing it.

Hey sorry for the super late response! No, what I love about this rack is that when it's mounted as close as possible to the roof, there is absolutely no noise or vibration which is awesome :)

Hey do the jimny do have speakers o the rear seats? Its the second time im search around and it looks to have only 2 on the doors 😒

Hey! It only comes with 2 at the front and no rear speakers, you'll have to install it afterwards but it's not too difficult - heaps of people have done it, I just haven't gotten to it yet :)

Yes absolutely. I know another guy that used thinner material, however I found the thicker material to work better for my car - but it all comes down to what you prefer I guess 😋

Yeah I’d definitely do it again if I had to. You’ll notice the sound in the car becomes better, less road noise and especially under the wheel arch I’d say it improves a lot👍🏽
