When you're going to update your Firmware and the visi remote application to have more features, maybe a rta analyzer would be great, you should also be able to edit the parameters of the effects direct of the ipad such as the delay tap tempo. It would also be great if it wasn't exclusive to ipad but to Any Device like android or windows, as mackie and presonus have done, I mean, for a mixer that is not cheap the features of your application are very limited compared to the other brands?

When you do port forwarding...you have to attach that action to an specific IP. But then you are enabling dhcp...which will assign different ip's do devices on network. How will this work?

Ok, please reply! No more visi remote.. it’s now: VISI-LISTEN. The same rules do not apply to this app. Seems like Harmon is really not concerned with updating anything for us. The app allows IEM mixes but it does not seem to allow fader on the main board access. It’s great if u have an old iPad that runs the visi remote but, if u don’t.. seems like ur screwed. Please help.

Hi soundcraft, I have a little doubt when configuring my router and it is this: When I'm setting the UDP forwarding an application name displays a combo box wich has some options like http, https, fdp,DNS,etc. wich one should I choose??, and my other question is: Do the IP Address created as UDP must be the same of the console? could you explain it more clearly plz?? best regards

+Bruce Zurita We recommend the Netgear router for plug and play. The routers that require a lot of setup are beyond our expertise, but an IT person will have experience with setting up the router to the level you need.

When setting up the port forwarding, should you set it to port forward the mixer's IP address? Or the iPad's? I'm assuming the mixer's, as that would allow it to stream the meters to multiple iPads. Also, any advice on setting up multiple consoles? Port forwarding is specific to the device, so if you forward UDP3333 to your first console, how will your second console send meter info on that same port? Is there a way to change the default port it uses, (for instance, to tell your second console to use UDP3334 instead) to be able to set up multiple consoles with working meters? Because if the first console has taken UDP3333, the second console won't be able to use that same port.

Jacob Sarinas the “rooter” (router, lol) is your network. You don’t need internet connection. You just need the router to bridge the gap between the board and your iPad.

MundoTucan is it really this complicated. I’ve seen another video in Spanish so i couldn’t understand 100%. But all she did was connect the ROOTER to the mixer and it showed up on the ipad and typed in a code from the ipad to the mixer to allow it to control it and it just worked. We struggled with getting the the console to respond to changes made on the remote. This video talks about making sure that port forwarding and UDP is is configured on the router, with no explanation other than refer to you router manual. This Port Forwarding made no sense and caused a lot of delay in getting remote to work. The information that did work was in a short document buried on the Soundcraft website under Products --> Mobile Apps --> Visi Remote --> Downloads "Visi Remote with new firmware"

My board is used for a musical. I have different settings programmed for each scene and on the board simply scroll the menu and hit next to change scenes. With visi remote i dont see any way to switch scenes, no next button or display for them Anyone know how to access this by the remote, Im sure there is a way.

@@JackHekler No - Soundcraft hasn't updated this app in about a decade. There have been many requests for updates and feature additions, but Soundcraft never supported beyond the bare minimum. We are moving to Allen & Heath and will never look back.

yes it is, but you need the latest update, and a proper configurable router i have one myself only the most routers suck (i can ping my Si-impact, with a PC in commandline, but the APP doesnt find the console !!!)

All of the marketing literature notes that you can use multiple devices to control one console "for example to allow musicians to control their own monitor mixes." Is there a specific setting on the board or the app that would prevent the individual musician devices from making changes to the main FOH or other mixes? I have only connected one device to the si expression 3 board and would like to allow others to connect, but not if there's no way to limit the amount of damage that could be done to anything other than their personal monitor mix. In classic fashion, the Si expression instructions just skip a crucial step; when setting port forwarding, how do we set the subnet mask? I can figure it out, but it is annoying that this is just not mentioned.

Soundcraft Mixers Thanks. I ended up assigning random subnet masks until one worked. Every conventional arrangement was deemed "invalid" by my router, and I have no idea why.

The simple answer, is that if your Subnet (your network) begins with 192 (most consumer routers come factory default this way) up to 223, then your Subnet Mask should be 255.255.255.0. Your subnet mask basically sets the range of addresses that your network is able to communicate with. So a subnet of 192.168.1.0 with a mask of 255.255.255.0 means your network device may use addresses from 192.168.1.1-254, while a mask of 255.255.255.128 would limit the pool to 192.168.1.1-126.

As in, remove this idiotic paging and turn it into a continuous scrolling? Same for the offline editor. What genius thought it was a great idea to leave it at this awfully unwieldy 1:1 port and call it a day? A PC is not only operated using the mouse, you know? It would have been nice to have some actually useful controls and inputs for levels and values. The fiddling and aiming with the mouse costs so much attention, it's a chore to operate that editor! AND FOR FUCK'S SAKE, modern PCs have big screen! 16 channel strips displayed and not a single more, when you even provide a choice between SiE1, 2, and 3? What a joke.

Well Soundcraft... I think this video needs to be revisited. For one TCP and UDP are completly different protocols in how the operate. Now the Slider changes from the App probably do use TCP and the meters probably use UDP the actual reason behind it has nothing to do with which device is talking to who. Also there is no need to do a port forward on a Router for this because the board and the device are both on the same LAN network and do not need to be accessible from the public internet. After this point I gave up watching any further.

you are definitely right. i believe the presenter just had a mix up. this is what it says in the manual. "Enabling UDP In order to utilise ViSi Remote’s global and per channel metering, your chosen router must have UDP enabled within the control panel. Please refer to the user guide of your chosen router for instructions on how to enable UDP" So tcp is definitely what would be used for controlling.

SoundcraftUK Sorry for taking up your time but I really do appreciate you responding. Is the reason you can't stick on both a financial limitation? It shouldn't I imagine be that much of a further investment to now port an already finished software to Android. It takes a bit to rewrite in a different language but all the methods, classes, and code or whatever are essentially already there. May I ask, where do you find the statistics that you mention? That is obviously the case for Mac vs. Windows (also for no good reason imo) but I'm not sure if that also applies for iOS vs. Android. PS- There's really not one thing that iOS or Mac can do or otherwise do better that Android or Windows can't (especially the case with Android).
