I remember seeing this video for the first time when it first aired on MTV, and I just realized that was 30 years ago. Wow, three decades just gone by in a blink.

Millie!! Thank you so much for giving us this. This song is a classic! So many memories of the 90s 😄 This always sounded very Beatles to me, very Lennon. Man, Chris was a Beatles fan, like all of us, and he surely paid tribute to them on this masterpiece. Thanks, Chris , for the music. We miss you, brother. RIP.

Chris Cornell wrote the song Black Hole Sun. It Is about I think wanting to escape from reality and deep depression. Chris Cornell was one of the best rock vocalist and rhythm guitarist of all time.

Oh my Silly Millie! You said you wanted more. You are so lucky, because there is so much more Chris Cornell to enjoy. Sound Garden is great, but I think Audioslave was slightly better IMO. Check out "I am the Highway", "Shadow of the Sun", and "Hypnotize" to start with. Plenty more great stuff as well. "Hunger Strike" Temple of the Dog. (Eddie Vedder and Chris Cornell) Epic! Enjoy! RIP Chris and Chester, you are missed.

I was 23 when this song came out. I graduated high school and grunge hit the next year. My favorite music eras are 1953-1957, 1965-74, and 1990-1995. I was never a fan of the "pop" sound of the 80s or boy bands and Brittanies later in the 90s until now. Once "autotune" was slapped on most music automatically, it lost my ear. There are no more quarter tone slurs or shifts that make music sound natural and made be real musicians.

This was hilarious to watch, I love anything Chris Cornell, and seeing your jaw drop further and further had me rolling. I obviously don't know what you're familiar with, but if you want moar, I want to see you react to his Audioslave period, something out of pocket like, "Wide Awake" or "Light my Way". "Like a Stone", "Show me how to Live" and "Cochise" are obviously phenomenal in their own right, but most likely you know them already.

Hey, Millie! You asked and we deliver! What’s this song about? Not much. According to Chris (via Wiki): he’d misheard a newsreader speaking and thought he’d heard “Black Hole Sun”. The rest was stream of consciousness; but keep in mind Chris struggled with depression until he lost that fight. RIP

a few things: 1. this is a great video. you got to realize part of the great music of the 90's where great interesting videos, that just gave a vibe. relax.. just let it sip in. stop being such a stressed millenial of the later part. relax.. watch.. give it time and get into it. stop judging. 2. what do you mean what the song is about.. it's about a sun taking over the earth taking away all the scum. it's a very simple message. black hole sun. 3. you need more.. then don't take their greatest song. I never get how people listen to for example stairway to heaven and then say oh i need more songs like this. no.. there no second scintine chappel.. there is no second david.. and there is nothing above the best ever. so no, don't say you need more as if any second song is this level. this is a top 50 90's song.

Most Soundgarden fans couldn't listen to this song back in the day because it got absolutely hammered by radio stations, who would not play any other Soundgarden songs, just Black Hole Sun. I don't mind it now but i still often skip it when it comes up on my playlist.

Shame this was drastically overplayed everywhere thru '94 & '95.... I still get an urge to skip this when listening thru the Superunknown album, purely from overplay PTSD! It's an easy drop-D tune to learn on guitar & bass (apart from Kim Thayil's lead work obviously - *nobody* else can do that). There are plenty YooToob vids etc you can use to pick this one up. ;)
