Harsh treble emphasis? I dunno, just sounds like your average pair of Beyerdynamic headphones to me.
@andrewcrossley2448Ай бұрын
DT 900 pro x are very accurate open backs for down mixing. ATs and especially the M50Xs have slightly exaggerated treble hence are often used by female vocalists in studios so they can hear themselves clearly - see videos of LeAnn Rimes and Alison Krauss. So it depends on the use case. I own DT 900 pro x for AV mixing and classical music listening, AT M50X for choral field recording, the bargain Rode NTH 100s and their boom mic for pod casting on the go or via a Rode mixing desk, with SM7Bs and Rode mics, and finally the excellent Bose Ultras for casual, but high quality, on the go NC consumption. They are very light, well made, have brilliant NC and the immersive option is very good for films and great for Dolby Atmos or Apple Spacial audio mixes. Tried all the ‘premium’ NC phones. Apple Pro Max are far too heavy, the AirPod Pro2s are good though, Sony MX5s have far too much flabby bass emphasis and cheap construction for the price, B&Ws 7se and 8s look nice but are too harsh/shrill out of the box and Focal Bathys too large to use practically on the go, Momentum 4 cannot generate sufficient volume with my IPhone 15 pro and NC was rubbish too, shame as nice overall sound balance. So currently Bose Ultras are the best quality/price point, especially when on offer like last week on BF.

Are people not treble sensitive? Or Am I the only one? I am very treble sensitive... I can pick up those frequencies way fast and it pricks and fatigues my ears.
@Benzo97Ай бұрын
@@lavatr8322Not just you. Most Beyers and the Samson SR850 (actually sounds great with EQ, though. so still worth it from a budget standpoint) are so harsh that there's NO way I'd use those without EQ, though most people I know don't seem to be bothered by it.

Well decision for me some days ago was to go either with the Beyer or snag the momentum 4 copper edition for 200€ on Black friday. Generally I like to support smaller companies but after reading some reviews and now also seeing this video (and especially since I had the Beyer Lagoon for years now, which were.. meh) I'm happy I took the sennheiser. Far better value for half the price. Hopefully Beyer takes the critics and improves for the next ANC Model in a few years. Maybe I'll switch again then.

As the owner of several Beyerdynamic products, one thing I have noticed is their HID systems are quite horrendous, and the Aventho 300 is no different. I struggle to get the touch controls to work, that is, if they are NOT SOMETIMES COMPLETELY BROKEN! They really need to fire all their HID workers and just stick to what people are used to and not these stupid new systems. Also, the headtracking? I mean so many different uses like audio contol or smtn, the music moving around in your head is very unpleasant, idk who would want something like that.

How does the sound compare to the regular DT 700 Pro? I find the DT 700 Pro to be flat and boring but that's also what enables me to work with them for an extended period. However when I want to listen to music like Electronic, Dance and Hip-Hop on them I need to use an EQ. But for Jazz and Classic the default setting is great. So how do these two compare?
@AliArghavan29 күн бұрын
There's no DT 700 Pro. There's the DT 770 PRO which is sharp sounding to my ears and DT 700 Pro X which is really good. There's also the limited edition DT 770 Pro X which sounds almost identical to 770 Pro.

I've tried these and loved the sound signature, however I prefer heavy bass. I could not deal however with the weight in combination with the missing ear cushion pedding. After 4-5 hours my ears started to hurt.
@rgesink15 күн бұрын
I love mine, and like my DT770 Pro’s they took a good while to get “played in”. After 3 weeks it seemed to me they sounded way less bright/harsh and more detailed vs just out of the box. I do agree they are tuned pretty “casual”, a bit more high and low vs neutral. But the lows are “just right” to me, not too boomy.

Here's to Focal releasing a more "budget" pair of headphones; ones that don't cost more than $350. I know, probably not happening but if it were not for the price I would have gone for those instead of the XM5.

better or not than the sennheiser momentum 4?
@renex613429 күн бұрын
Really interesting that really EVERY influencer on KZbin recommends Sony, Bose or Apple - which all have a terrible sound. Only a few mention Sennheiser Momentum 4, better sound then any mentioned headphones - just a really bad user experience with the touch controls. But there are other companies out here like AKG who are doing a great job on bluetooth headphones nowadays. And for the Aventho 300 -> they need some kind of "burn in" procedure where you let them play for 10 hours almost full volume so the membrane looses its tightness.. you get a MUCH better sound afterwards.

How do you compare the sound to Amiron Wireless in 2025?
@zajko31139 күн бұрын
Prasing Sony and Bose heavily V shaped headphones and saying that these Beyerdynamic are bad because they have emphasis on the bass and treble like most of the wireless cans are emphasizing these frequencies.
@iangonzalez617119 күн бұрын
As much as i liked the review, i think he missed a few things. For one thing, the sound out of the box isn't bad, and man, these things can get STUPID loud, but it sounds that they wanted a specific reference sound signature, which if any headphones didn't have they'll dismiss them. There's a reason they're tuned like that, just like what everyone else is doing, that's the direction mainstream audio listeners are gravitating towards. Second, the equalizer does have a nuetral preset, which is done very well, i just hate the volume hit the headphones take. It likes cuts it in half. They need to work on the EQ, and that volume dive. It feels like the EQ doesn't do much but tame the volume and nothing else. You can't sit here and dismiss them just because they dont sound like wired reference headphones. Like you said, you have those already. These are meant to appeal to a more mainstream audience. I own the grey ones. I can honestly say they sound WAY better than most, if not all, the competition out there minus the momentum 4s. ANC could be better, as well as the mic, but others of the same price sound way worse like bose and sonys constantly lack bass.

Well, your "review" just goes to show how subjective sound quality really is. For instance, "harsh treble emphasis", in your case may just mean it produces a "tsk tsk" as opposed to a "ssh ssh" sound. And there is nothing wrong with that...especially to people like me who listen to lots of Reggae. It's not your job to dismiss a product just because it fails YOUR preference. It is your job to produce the facts (such as they may) and let us choose.

Listening to music is a personal, subjective experience, and it's true that what sounds good to my ears might not sound good to your ears! In our reviews we include both objective data from our Bruel & Kjaer 5128 testing head, as well as our subjective experience with the product. If you look at the data and decide these headphones are for you, great. If not, that's okay too! - CB

Heyo! That's actually an excellent question! MDAQS is a system by Head Acoustics that was developed based on the perception of test subjects who are untrained, casual listeners. That being said, the results produced by MDAQS can give us an idea of how a majority of listeners-who are often untrained, non-professionals-may perceive the sound quality of a given audio product. This is why headphones with more "consumer-friendly" frequency responses (ex. Harman curve, SoundGuys preference curve) tend to score higher in MDAQS than open-back studio headphones, which often have a more neutral-leaning bass response or a low-end roll-off. It's important to note that MDAQS is not the end-all or be-all of evaluating audio quality. Algorithms and charts are simply *tools* to help you make informed buying decisions. This is why we always include charts, MDAQS, and subjective review experience in all our reviews; to give you the most amount of info possible to help you on your purchasing journey. At the end of the day, regardless of all the charts or scores you come across, the best tool for finding the best headphones for you is your own ears. For a more detailed explanation of MDAQS and how we use it in our reviews, we've got a full guide on our site: www.soundguys.com/what-is-mdaqs-the-multi-dimensional-audio-quality-score-explained-104949/ Hope this clarifies things! Happy listening!

Possibly looking at their website they aren't reviewing cheaper Sony headphones like the ZX310. Most reviewers on KZbin are too scared of annoying big brands as they might not get either free samples or early samples (before actual release). It's also why most review places have a high average rating because they don't want to hate on everything, which is why you rarely find a review under 5 rating but many reviews of around 6-8, a proper review of all their headphones should have a review average of 5 but after looking at their last 100 it's more of an average of 7. It could just be they are snobs and won't review lower price gear though, either that or anything below 7 is bad and 8 is average and 9 is good, which means the scale is more likely to be a 6-10 instead of a scale of 1-10.

These looked so promising. Love the design and build quality, and the lackluster ANC was kind of expected (like Sennheiser, I didn't expect them to excel here). But, unlike the Momentum 4s, the sound quality is shockingly awful. Hopefully this is something they'll improve on, either via software tuning or in a future iteration.
@fabiusfidibusАй бұрын
No it's not. The testing is obviously biased. Telling people to get Sony or Apple Products for high quality sound disqualifies almost all the headphones Reviews on KZbin. It's ridiculous how people buy those overpriced products and expect them to have "good sound quality" when all they get is a mushy base boost. I'm disappointed again.
