I remember watching my father make shoes and boots back in the 90s. Smell of glue, sounds of the hammer. Sometimes he'd have to chemically peel a layer off the new sole to get good glue adhesion and he'd send me out of the room not to breathe the stuff, as I wasn't even 10 yet. Watching this process brings up memories :D Well done to the masters of hand-made shoes keeping the trade and tradition alive. It's a rare art these days.

I have similar boots, handmade in Spain. They have been with me for 16 years, I have done all the important mountains in Europe with them. There is nothing like handmade products. Impressive quality

Craftsmanship, attention to detail and a beautiful result. I have a pair of Austrian Haderer custom boots made at their Kitzbuel shop. They were crafted in 1978 and still going strong. Welted with wooden pegs instead of cord. Gorgeous construction. These look really nice, kind of a Galibier style.

Amazing craftsmanship! The only thing that bothers me is that the wonderful foot mold was used only for the heel shape even though it was obvious how much too narrow the toebox will be for that particular foot. I somehow expected them to make a perfect fit, basing everything to that foot shape. Of course over time leather will stretch and shape to fit, but it still won't make space for toes to spread really. Nevertheless, this was a great video.

At 27:24 the craftsman is executing a critical step of the process: the adhesive bonding of the gripsole. IF, if this sole, or adhesive bonding comes lose at altitude, it is a certian death. Adhesive bonding alone is hence not safe. The sole must be mechanically AND adhesively joined to the shoe. At 29:03 the craftsman completes the second critical step: sewing the sole to the shoe. It make this mountains shoe perfect. If you ever buy a mountain boot for serious work, you know where to look at.
