I have used bubble wrap with good results. You can sometimes get it for free if you get shopping delivered to you home. I actually bought a big roll of bubble wrap from a stationery store. I bought "storage grade" bubble wrap with dual layer plastic. It came in with a light purple tint. I also got a larger roll (50cm) wide of double sided metalized temperature control dual layer bubble wrap. As well as reducing noise the latter reduces light and keeps the room cooler in summer and warmer in winter. Also reduces condensation on the windows and subsequent black mold growth

Looking for the ultimate solution for a window that: 1. clear enough for viewing through 2. transfers and filters air (cool/heat?!) 3. reflects and absorbs sound to a high degree I think about 3 glass sheets in parlell and a tunnel for the air between them and maybe find a way to micro shape the glass surface to break and absorbe sound, move the center glass between the ends to push/pull air into or out of the room on magnetic rails so it's terribly silent.

How about a stretched canvas? You can get stretcher bars from an art supply store. Glue them together for a rectangle. Then stretch fabric over it using a staple gun to attach. I’m sure you can find instructions on KZbin. It might be difficult to get the exact dimensions you want. It’s also difficult to shorten the bars because of the interlacing corner. You could even add jeans to the back for more sound deadening. Just a thought.

I have a 5’x5’ window and used denim insulation glued to a sheet of plain cardboard. I cut the insulation an inch or so bigger than the window, stuffed it inside then nailed the cardboard to the frame. Not pretty but a dramatic improvement.

Big Stretch is a great product to use as an alternative to acustical caulking and silicon.

Hey, I just installed and drilled a thick hard plywood onto window without gaps but still could hear most noise is there anything I could put over the plywood for extra soundproof (tried blackout curtains already)

What kind of window blind would be the best to insulate from sound? I’m thinking either a shutter or maybe a cellular blind. That, combined with the curtain.

My sister had interior shutters installed in their house in Sacramento. She said it helped a lot in reducing noise from the outside. They do cost more than blinds, though.

Hey Andy, i can't seem to find acoustic panels that can fit the size of a window on Amazon Canada?

Hmmm great comment Cedric, they might not have those types in your geographical location, unfortunately.

The California Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco uses recycled blue denim as wall insulation material. What's especially is that this large museum building has no mechanical climate control, either for heating or cooling!
