I want to be able to soundproof my room a bit, I want to be able to lower the noise coming from my room at least by 50%. I play guitar and the walls in our apartment are so thin, lol. We can hear neighbors arguing and probably could make out every other word if they’re yelling. 😂 I can never play guitar that loud or else I’ll get some complaints from my family and the neighbors. 🙄 I resorted to using headphones, but truthfully It doesn’t feel the same and my ears get tired. I want to be able to crank up my guitar where I can play some nice down tuned distortion licks and shred some nice bluesy solos. So this video will help out a lot, thanks for posting! 🎸

Thanks for the video, and for all the other videos on soundproofing, I've learned a lot! I have a question unrelated to this video, but one that is relevant to many of your videos on mass loaded vinyl. I would like to know your thoughts on the comparison between mass loaded vinyl and a product called Tecsound SY, which comes in a 10kg per square meter version. Which would you recommend as the best material between two layers of drywall? Again, many thanks for all the great content you've produced on KZbin!

Thanks for the info!!! Your videos are extremely helpful! I have a quick question that I hope you can answer, What would be better to hang over the walls for sound proofing? Moving blankets or 2inch sound panels? (assuming all the walls are covered) because I plan to use one of these for my room as well :)
@soundproofguide
@soundproofguide 9 ай бұрын
Unless you cover the entire wall with the acoustic panels, I’d use the moving blankets. Those aren’t bad to deaden the noise inside the room but does little to stop noise from coming in the room.

I have enjoyed watching your videos and they have given me much cheaper ideas to eliminate sound. But, I'm a little confused because a previous video you advised not using the acoustic foam. Use moving blankets. ( your video made 4 months ago) This video ( made one month ago) you are stating to use the acoustic foam. So, are you saying to keep noise inside a room use the foam? to block noise from coming into a room use the blankets? I'm trying to figure out the best way to block noise from a closet gaming studio that is heard in the adjoining room. Would it be best to use both in the closet gaming room? Thanks for your input! Thanks for the videos! They are helpful in a cheaper alternative! I just want to make sure I do the right thing!

@soundproofguide
@soundproofguide 6 ай бұрын
Thanks! And yes, it definitely would. You just don't want to put too much and make your voice sound too dead. They say about 20% of the wall should have acoustic panels or foam, but with the glass, you might need a bit more. You could have a sound-deadening curtain that covers the glass, at least when you're doing the voiceovers.

Love your videos. Most of the time you are talking about keeping sound OUT of a room, but this one is right up my alley. I'm a saxophonist trying to keep the sound of my practicing from getting out and keeping my wife from divorcing me. I have a couple of questions: Will putting MLV on a hollow core door (along with weather stripping and a door sweep) help to keep the sound in? What are your thoughts on making acoustic panels (like these kzbin.info/www/bejne/aYS6Z6eti8hlbdE) vs. using acoustic foam panels ? I'd appreciate your thoughts on this Thanks!

@soundproofguide
@soundproofguide 8 ай бұрын
It shouldn’t effect your wireless too much, especially if you’re not adding extra layers of drywall and a ton of other stuff in the wall. Just deadening your closet shouldn’t effect the wifi. Great idea with using the closet since the cloths in there will deaden a lot of your noise! 😎

Acoustic foams have literally worked in 99% of major music studios. Auralex has made millions from studios and while their stuff may be higher quality, Amazon’s products are more accessible and affordable to most people. As a musician, specifically one that only sings a’cappella music, a dead room is vital to recording so I do know a thing or two.
