I had a 2004 TJ RME , and have zero issues with heat through the floorboards etc , I can idle my truck in +30 hot sunny days and never have overheating problems, I have factory black rug on the floor , no sound deadening etc added in , even have a warn winch and an angry grill blocking some airflow , appreciate your videos ! Have a video of my TJ in a video on KZbin

Very cool video! I have a 98’ 4.0 Wrangler with no carpet and my Jeep is pretty darn loud and it gets really hot. Did you happen to notice a decrease in heat from the trans tunnel? After watching your video I’m going to go for it and install it and a carpet kit. Thanks for the video!

If you put in some sound deadening and carpet or the like you'll notice a huge difference.

Just don’t ever cross deep water as it will get between the floor and the dynamat and cause it to rust. Happened to me and I had to pull it all out.

I've only ever sunk one vehicle inside and that was my own fault, so the odds are on my side lol.

I have an '05 TJ Rocky Mtn. Can you tell me how much you needed to complete the job? After reading some of the comments, I'm going to just install a Bedrug in the Spring. After all, it's a Jeep with a soft top. I knew what I was getting myself into long ago. But I certainly wouldn't drive anything else. Best vehicle I've had by far. Used 2x Dynamat extreme Trunk kits. I hear good things about Bedrug!

@@DarrylSheather Update: I've had the Bedrug with just the front Weathertech floor mats on for about a year and a half. It's been great! The rear Weathertech floor mats are absolutely useless since everyone has said, they don't fit. My younger son is always seated on the rear bench seat, still in a booster seat. And he beats the crap out of stuff. His side of the Bedrug has minimal wear at best which is amazing considering the abuse it takes. I have the Bank Power exhaust on my '05 TJ Rocky Mtn and that is definitely among my favorite mods, just an awesome throaty growl, burble with zero drone. The db's are certainly lower now after the Bedrug install and I have a soft top. Honestly, I don't know why anyone would cocoon themselves with a hard top in a vehicle meant for that great open air experience! Anyway, that factory carpet was like a glorified paper towel compared to the Bedrug.

You just want to see me going through that pain before you have to. It's a rotten job and I must admit, have put it off.

Did you dynamat over the drain holes?
@DarrylSheather3 жыл бұрын
No, reused the Rubber plugs.
@e.l.norton4 жыл бұрын
Dumb question...what if you double-layered it? Double the reduction?
@DarrylSheather4 жыл бұрын
There are other products you can use for soundproofing on top of this. The dynamat is heavy and a lot of the benefit is the stopping of panels drumming. Some guys just use patches of the dynamat to do this.

You will find that in the really hot floor zones, above cat converter and exhaust pipe, the dynamax butyl rubber will melt and flow, it will find a way out and down, it it drips on the muffler exhaust pipe, cat, it will smoke and smell terrible. In time this subsides as the butyl rubber deposit becomes thinner and exhausts itself.

After changing the inner shift boot Randy, I'd have to disagree with you. I sealed up the broken boot with Dynamite and it kept its form quite well. If it was going to melt it would have at that point as some of the Dynamite was the only thing separating the cab from lies underneath the vehicle. Quite happy with how it coped.
@randypeterson40555 жыл бұрын
Why did you not take the seats out and do under the seats, lots oof area there, hot zone also.
@DarrylSheather5 жыл бұрын
I have to add in the seat heaters and need to take out the seats fo do those. Will Dynamat then. Also have to replace the heater core, so will do the firewall when changing that over.

Why no footage on the road showing how effective it is?
@DarrylSheather5 жыл бұрын
I did do some footage of just that but it really didn't show the difference, so figured some DB figures would be at least something concrete for people to see there was a change.
