I was abused as a kid by my alcoholic stepfather at the time, listening to songs that I can relate to helps me in my struggle of mental illness. Wanted to die before 25, now im 30 and got my own place, still got help with rent from social services and shit, but I got out of the apartment were the walls ''could cry from what they saw''.

My dad was never abusive, but the song was about him. He was in the military and wanted me to go in the military for a while. We have had our fair share of ups and downs. But at the end of the day, I know my dad loves me. I am glad that other people can relate to the song though, especially those who have abusive parents. I wrote it for that purpose and used the "negative" moments in the relationship I have with my dad to provide a story for others who may need it for a source of comfort. :)

One day last November I heard my best friend singing the "I know we're only 15, but you mean the world to me" part of this song. It got stuck in my head, and I was on the phone with my (now ex) boyfriend, and absent-mindedly started singing that line and he heard me. It became a line we said to each other often and it meant a lot to us. this past September it suddenly got stuck in my head again and I looked up the line and found Tyler, and Alex and Johnnie and Shannon. I'm so happy I ended up looking it up, because now Tyler is my favorite artist and one of the only musicians I listen to, and I love the other's channels too
