One day in the summer I became very ill. I had a very bad headache and I had chills. I invented my own therapy. And called it dolphin therapy. I heard this sound with big headphones and imagined that i was flying over the Caribbean Ocean. I sat on my gaming chair right next to the window where the sun was shining on my Face. I fell asleep. After about an hour i woke up and was completely healthy.

Before I had persistent dreams of flying in a PBY in WW2. I did the same thing with fans and it enhanced the feeling of reality in my subsequent dreams. It was so real to me that I’m not sure it wasn’t a recollection of a previous life. (I was killed when a Japanese fighter attacked our plane. After that I was reborn in 1949).

I was a C-130E prop mechanic (Hamilton Standard 54H60) in the Air Force from1971-1974. When I was stationed in Tahkli Thailand our open bay barracks was pretty close to the flightline. We had no windows, just screens so we could hear C-130's and F-111's 24 hours a day. When I returned to the states I could not sleep without that relaxing sound. This recording is just what I needed then.

I have compared this propellor sound to others on YT. This contains a better blend of frequencies that are more pleasing to my ear, especially the very low frequency rumble. Playing this for sleeping at home makes sense knowing how easy it is fo me to sleep when I fly.

I was a C-130 Loadmaster about 50 years ago. To get the full effect from this you need to turn the sound all the way up but that still wouldn’t approach what it was really like inside those things for 8 hours straight. You’d still be missing the intense vibrations and bouncing around the sky while trying to drink your coffee.

Reminds me of my time in the service. Especially when we would hop over to Europe on a good ol' Hercules. My favorite thing to do was to get as close to the center as possible and inline with the plane of rotation. Which if anyones ever been on one knows are painted with big red lines. That was the sweet spot where the drone was strongest and the stereo effect was greatest and all sound was gone and the drone could Lull you too sleep...with ear plugs of course... Nice. Great video clip Don, but I have one complaint, the constant popping which I'm assuming is the playback loop is annoying especially at higher levels.

David, I was there at the same time with 100th Strat Recon Sq. Jet Mac on the U2’s. No afterburner , just a big engine, J75. Same as a Thud 105. SAC was worried about shoulder- fired missiles so every takeoff was a max burn to 5000ft over the base before he’d turn out to look at RVN. Peace brother; we deserve it.

I remember watching the ground Crews scramble when the U2's would come, in they had El Caminos with hopped up 454's with two crew members in the back who would place the wing Wheels on the wings as it landed I always thought that was so cool. Very familiar with a thud 105 we called them Nickels or the flying rock, the Air Force Reserve had them at Carswell in Fort Worth Texas when I came back from Thailand. Oh yeah I was a 0462, MMS, we were called BUFF Stuffers.

This reminds me of all the times I rode on MC-130 Combat Talon Black Birds from Cam Rahn to BMT during crew change in the 20th SOS. Black Birds were a nice ride. Sometime we had to ride in MC-123Ks and they were rather unpleasant. Very noisy.

Reminds me of years ago before I had AC in then my apartment. We had ceiling fans and those old heavy duty box fans you don’t see anymore - just the cheap imports that might last a summer. Anyway the drone of the fans placed in the windows pulling hot air out while the ceiling fans gave a steady air flow on you that knocked you out after you got out of the shower after work and laid on the bed.
