This is so peaceful and relaxing for me. My grandma also lived across from the train tracks and I remember sleeping there and hearing the trains go by. She said that in the past if you shared some food with the hobo's they would put a mark on your fence which meant you were a kind person and that the other travelers could get something to eat there. I miss the good old days.

Don't know about the rest of the world but a few years ago "sakte TV" (translates to "Slow TV ") just exploded in Norway. There are so many of them now it's crazy. Many of them hours and hours long. Different train rides (this one f.ex has one for every season), famous boat rides like "hurtigruten" and a few others, a walk through the mountains, even an 8 hour long knitting evening were they start with shearing a sheep and end with knitting a sweater. All in real time, called "minute to minute". For the 10year anniversary for this concept they even filmed a "live" clock with people "constructing" the time with planks for every minute that ticked by for 24hours 🤣

This is amazing. Last year I happened to stay in in a rural farmhouse and trains went by in the night - and coyotes howled allow with it. It occurred to me that I was experiencing something beautiful that will surely be lost to time within 10-20 years - a sound of wonder that enchanted generations, that inspired so much of our culture - especially American music. Thankfully vids like this will keep the experience alive!

Idk if anyone will read this but I’ve had a really rough two years. I have a lot to be grateful for but I find my self more in pain over things that I simply value more than what I already have. Things I can’t control or can’t have for some reason seem to be what’s crippling me. And these things aren’t material possessions that I long for, they are legitimate human needs. Like socializing, romance, connections, things of that sort. I’ve had a bad string of luck in regards to these things and it leaves me feeling more alone and empty than I ever been. If anyone reads this. Please say a prayer for me. Because idk how much more I can give of myself. I’ve done it for so long and there’s nothing left of me. That is all. I think most folks don’t know how FLAT much of the country is. When we reached the East Coast and swung north we finally entered rolling hills and trees and I began to feel like I was in familiar territory. Back to the coast of southern New England with the tang of ocean air. There’s no place like home.

Reading all the comments describing people's stories of why they love the sound of a train and memories this sound invokes for them made me think I should share my "love of train sound memory" as well. I was born and grew up in Chicago, Illinois, USA. I went to college for one school year in Rome, Italy. I would travel throughout Europe by train using my Eurail Pass that school year. I'm a terrible sleeper. I can't get my body to fall asleep until it's too exhausted to stay awake so I usually can't fall asleep until early morning hours. However, whenever I traveled by train to an overnight destination, the sound of the train and the rocking back and forth made falling asleep a sinch! I LOVED to travel at night for this reason. Well, that's my, "love of train sound memory" story! Sleep well everyone and thank you for the upload OP!
