Sounds True was founded in 1985 by Tami Simon with a clear mission: to disseminate spiritual wisdom. Since starting out as a project with one woman and her tape recorder, we have grown into a multimedia publishing company with more than 80 employees, a library of more than 1500 titles featuring some of the leading teachers and visionaries of our time, and an ever-expanding family of customers from across the world. what has helped me when I am suffering is to ask the question "who is feeling repelled?" "who is disliking this?" this always shocks me out of my aversion and creates a bigger space in which I meet and get to know the one who can't tolerate something

Your work is so incredibly helpful, Matt. Feeling a deep sense of befriending/understanding, can really open one to an intensely patient path of self healing. Thank You!

The term alchemy, brings me to ancient scripture of purification and going through fire and water, that seems to reinforce how necessary being fully in the state of experiencing our fears, sadness, grief to heal. For example: "Numbers 31:23 everything that can withstand the fire--must be put through the fire, and it will be clean. But it must still be purified with the water of purification. And everything that cannot withstand the fire must pass through the water.". You mention Buddhism in this interview, and I imagine similar scripture can be found in Confucius Analects too. Blessings and Peace, thank you for sharing.

What a great conversation…I can hear what the ‘orphans’ are now…’Are you willing to set aside any notion of relief?’…’Who are you?’…’What do you want to say to me?’…Your questions and answers were engaging….so helpful. I could maybe find one orphan…

If you can't be your own best friend how can you expect others to give you the acceptance and answers and friendship and love. May sound like a cliche, I fight against myself still, running around like "chicken little", my sky instead of being wild and full of endless possibilities is being held up with both hands- falling on me - I can't communicate even through metaphor how I feel. What is comforting is that many people esp during covid have felt a disconnect from self, society and nature. We talk of globalization but where we need to start is the geography of "me", without being narcissistic- did I convey my isolation and my depression and connect at all-? Sounds True is a great channel, publishing house and of course, Lion's Roar magazine- Namaste

Cognitive scientists are coming up with the word transjective. In a relationship things are transjective not objective or subjective.

Thank you for this. I'm thinking as listening the process almost feels comparable to allowing yourself to observe the objects in the river that impede the flow and that by lifting those out and de-objectifying seeing them as facets of self they soften and open transmute into beauty....
