Well, I just rushed through many unclear tutorials on how to add exactly these files yesterday, only to realize that only one of my sounds worked in my portal map. Now I know why, thanks.

For anyone trying to get soundscapes working in 2022 for CS:GO, you have to name your soundscape script file as the name of your map. So if your map name is "de_pressed" then your soundscape script file should be named "soundscapes_de_pressed.txt"

Add surround/stereo to sounds by adding "(" or ")" in front of wave file path. For example: ")weapons/m4a1/m4_shoot.wav". playrandom needs "(" and PlayLooping needs ")". This works with ambient_generic as well :) Now the sound will be panned left to right depending on where you look to simulate a location, not only distance like before. You're welcome

Your videos have been helping me so much. The problem is, I have to translate and try to figure out the difference for hammer2. As I've been making hla maps. It's going well, with your help. But there are some things that are different enough, that I'm having a bitch of a time at some parts. Thanx for the great content.

if you're making a custom soundscape, the name must be "soundscapes_mapname.txt" (replace mapname with the name of your map). Otherwise it won't work in L4D2 at least.

Yeah, easy to just copy and paste the soundscapes and just choose the one you want, until you find out Portal 2 has 421 choices. :P

For looping, I tried saving over my file, but that didn't seem to do the trick. I did *not* try to export (or save as) a new file, that might have worked. I instead went with another comment that said to use Goldwave which worked.

Amazing video as usual !! How do you include your custom sounrdscapes in your bsp ? I'm asking because i've already used a manifest file for particles in CS:S, and it was really hard to include it. Maybe it's easier on CS:GO now, maybe you just have to include it with pakrat but i don't think it will be that easy. Amazing job thank you very much for this tutorial, it will be very helpful :)
@bensong85189 жыл бұрын
+leplubodeslapin did you ever manage to figure out how to pack custom particles? I never got it to work for my CSGO maps and CSGO SDK is still awfully lacking in support for a particle editor and custom particles.
@leplubodeslapin9 жыл бұрын
+Ben Song I found the method on CS:S a long time ago, i'm not 100% sure it's the same on CS:GO but i guess it is. It was quite hard to find the information, so i explained it here, I thought it might help people : forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2160641 Happy mapping

help, I successfully put the sound files into hammer and it worked in tf2 as well, but after deleting the sound files that I used (it was the mp3 version on desktop (I used wav versions for the sounds in game)) the music mysteriously disappeared in game, can someone help me?

could anyone help? i did the basic one where you just enter with a trigger and the sound plays and i tried it with my WAV file that i put into my sounds folder (which played perfectly when previewing in the sound name) but when i enter on gmod itself it turns off all the sound in the map and drops my fps by atleast 40

i know that you used CS:GO for importing custom sounds, but there is no folder to put it in for Gmod.

i cannot use snd_updateaudiocache and snd_rebuildaudiocache since gmod doesnt recognise them as real commands

that probably means that Gmod doesn't use an audio cache, and it loads all the wav files in real-time, so there's nothing to worry about

Well,actually for npc,you must have game sound script and scene (.VCD) file.Scenes for NPC made in Face Poser,which is available in Source SDK,or in bin folder of game you working on.
