In this tutorial, I show you how to lock items to parts of your character's body so that they move together. You can also use this technique to lock hats to your character's heads and more! Experiment with it and see what you can create.
_____________________________________
BETTER METHOD FOR WEAPONS (Thanks to SADXhacker):
1. Expand the Soldier in the Animation Set Editor, then expand his "Other" category.
2. Expand the Pain Train in the Animation Set Editor, then expand its "Body" category.
3. Drag weapon_bone (Soldier's "Other" category) onto the square/lock box next to rootTransform (Pain Train's "Body" category).
4. Click rootTransform (Pain Train's "Body" category) in the Animation Set Editor so that it is selected.
5. Enter the Motion Editor.
6. Click on the "Zero" Procedural setting and move your mouse to the right until the squiggly lines in the Motion Editor become one straight line.
7. Rotate the Pain Train so that it is upright and facing the right direction.
These steps both lock the Pain Train to your Soldier's hand and position it directly in the middle of his hand. The only work you have left to do is to rotate it, preferably with the Rotate tool for maximum precision. These steps can be performed with any weapon for any character (and even other objects you want him to hold, such as hats, small items, or whatever). The lengthier method shown in this video can still be utilized to lock many other types of objects to one another and even items to your character's head, body, or non-weapon hand.

@@MorbyLol Yup and for some reason it works fine just locking it but if there's not already animation in the session yet. If there is then you have to do this. Sfm can be so weird with it's stuff.

When you choose the animation, uncheck "Generate Root Motion" so that it doesn't generate any motion/movement along with the animation.

I apologize. My instructions in the video description weren't very clear. I've added numbered, step-by-step instructions so that it should be much easier to follow. The method is actually very similar to what you see here, only you're using the Soldier's weapon_bone element rather than bip_hand_R and dragging the Zero slider, not the Playhead slider. Let me know if the new description helps!

That step is correct, dragging bip_head to the Camera's transform. You have to click on the Camera, though, so that every one of its properties are selected, enter the Motion Editor, then drag the Playhead slider all the way to the right until the squiggly lines you see become straight (indicating the camera's own motion is gone).
