The US uses the ACH variant, meanwhile we use the MK7, both are similar shape and occasionally the same colour but I believe that the ACH is smaller around the neck and ears.

The roman infantrymen carryed more than 10 kg when he was marching as I know. The late soldiers in military history wore heavy armour or accesories too. There is important difference when we talking about marching or usual combat equipment I think. The warriors of history carried as much as they could. Sorry for my english

+2010FX35 Video seems to have been originally produced for the consumption of British Army personnel, so I think the blackouts are for the sake of not showing some sensitive aspects of the design to the public. Either for the sake of opsec or source's patents. Seems to be specifics of the scalable side protection and quick release system that are censored

They have took away the side plate protection so its lighter but has less protection and the new helmets remind me of the mich2000 helmet which reminds me of the American helmet and we had our own type of helmets and vests so u could tell between the American soldiers and the british now we just look the same

Thing is, whilst the helmet is a lot lighter, and the body armour (without plates) is slightly lighter than Osprey (without plates), the only plates we have to use in the virtus body armour are the Osprey ones and ECBA ones, so the weight is still near enough exactly the same! On top of this, the “spine” has caused so many injuries to troops. The Bergen is more like a larger daysack, and not only can you hardly get any kit in, but the zip on the bottom can easily break just for all your kit to fall straight out.

Balls. Still too complicated with too many snaps, straps, and shit you don't need. Weight is the enemy to any infantry man. I threw away some of my gear in Afghanistan because the bulk wasn't worth it. Light infantry should be light. Companies with contracts like to push this crap on us for cash. Freedom of movement is key.

I got measured up for it last week so we to try everything on (Maximum kit seeing as it's "Scalable" ) and I'd have to say I can't see a down side to it apart from the fact you got all these little extra system which to be fair tho it's more to learn and put up with the pros for the kit is well worth it, and also the iconic modern day British Army look which people know, Mk7 helmet and Mk3 osprey armour is being phased out.

I will have to agree to disagree in part with this as there is a dispute within various parts of the military who have successfully used it in the past and others who claim it is unsuitable and failed their tests, (Manufactures claiming some were rigged however you have to be there to see who is telling the truth.) From what I have researched it could have been down to maintaining a consistent production quality problem. When it works it is better than existing equipment, however the cost of it is not as cheap as the plates. So it will be interesting to see if the new owners of the armour can turn around the fortunes of Dragon Skin. (When they get consistent manufacturing quality and honest testing maybe selling it to the Israelis, who always are looking for the best equipment and not the cheapest may be the way forward! ).

The spine when adjusted has caused a lot of issues for soldiers to get up rapidly from the prone position as it's difficult to bend your back to look up. The body Armour itself has had numerous issues being caught up in webbing. And the optional face guard has rarely been, and is now primarily used for recon on ATVs/Quad bikes.
