This is my first time trying for sourdough starter. I mixed flour and warm water each 150grams but the consistency was thick and not like yours. I had to add little more water to get the mentioned consistency. What will be issue? If it's because of the wheat flour then do I need to add more water than mentioned in video for feeding as well? Can you please mention your location? Need to know that to compare the temperature differences. Few videos mention that if you're making sourdough in india then need to feed every 12 hours. Please advise..

Absolutely.. I’m in US and when to feed your starter is dependent upon how fast it rises and falls. You have to observe your starter, how fast it rise and falls down, if it’s getting hungry then you have to feed it frequently.

I'm in Karnataka where it's quite hot.. following a feeding cycle of 12 hours.. seems to be working fine at the moment.. starter is bubbling wonderfully and growing more than double in 6 to 7 hours.. not falling back down so much in 12 hours, about 15 to 20% fall from peak..

Hi , you can use discarded flour once you smell sweet flavor, after 4 days. It means your starter is getting hungry. Don’t worry. Feed your starter as directed in the video.
