They never outright show it in the anime, but you see the arm below the rubble, you see F-Lucy writing in a booklet with her left hand - even though we know she's right handed - and after the bit with the Dragon, you never see her right arm or hand again, since it's always blocked from sight by rubble, camera angles or the cloak.

Why the heII would her body disappear as result of the Eclipse Gate being destroyed, and it *explicitly* being stated “since the Eclipse Gate no longer exists in the future, they’re going back to their own time”…but she’s still dead? Her death was undone by time being reset because the Gate was destroyed. There’s nothing to interpret, it’s literally *stated* what was happening. Plus, the Elysian Fields are from Greek mythology. Fairy Tail is a Japanese series that has a heavy focus on *Irish* culture, not Greek.

Future Lucy's fate is just so sad. She and Levy were like, the only ones (I think) who survived out of the whole guild. They literally had to survive an apocalypse and live in a horrible dystopia where they have to hide all the time and are helpless to do anything. And Lucy lost her whole arm on top of that. I can't imagine the fear, the sadness, the painful nostalgia for a time that is now lost, the helplessness that they must have experienced. Not to mention that when they show Levy in that room writing the letter, we see a bunch of wrapped-up things that kind of resemble bodies. Imagine if they were actually the bodies of dead FT members they couldn't bury and Levy and Lucy had to live with them. Of course Lucy wouldn't mind dying to save her past self and finally reunite with her family. Man, FT has the potential to be really dark. Mashima should've fleshed it out a bit more in that direction and the animation studio shouldn't have censured it that much.

@@MiosPanties(Spoilers) future Rogue was from a different future where Lucy closed the gate and everything was safe, then one year later him and Minerva went on a job to fight the Avatar guild I think and Gray killed Frosch (maybe accidentally) so Rogue basically turned to the dark side Essentially there are 3 timelines: Timeline 1 (F-Rogue) where Lucy closed the gate then Frosch got killed so Rogue went evil but Acnologia ruled the world years later so he went back in time Timeline 2 (F-Lucy) where Rogue from T1 made it so Lucy didn't close the gate so he can control the 10k dragons to defeat Acnologia and he'll be the new dragon king And Timeline 3, which is what we have, where Natsu stops Rogue from going to the job and stops Frosch from getting killed, which means F-Rogue technically started T3 as he warned Natsu about it Timeline 1 and 2 are connected like a time loop

If you remember from previous episodes, lucy was sitting on a bench and brings out a diary of some sort and when she starts writing, she removes the cover of her pen using her mouth and she is writing on her left hand when she is a righty...meaning her right arm is amputated...and again the princess never mentioned about the person whether it was a male or female who told her about the future until arcadios confronted her here...

Yep, and it was mentioned her handwriting was terrible by the guards that found her diary. And we know Lucy has good penmanship. The only reason she had bad handwriting was because she was writing with her non-dominant hand.

Sadly, this subbed scene in the show doesn't explain as well as it's explained in other media, but Future Lucy lost her arm, the same one that had her Guild Mark. We can only assume she lost it in the first battle before the seven years it took her to get back to the past. Also, that ending image of Natsu's face...STILL give em chills and stabs my heart. Love or hate this show, you can't deny their animators and artists are TOP TIER BOSSES.

Only Future Rogue is from 7 years in the future. Future Lucy came back shortly after being disarmed the day the gate opened which is why she is so clueless as to what's happening.

The anger piled way too much on Natsu he couldn't even shed a tear on his other eye but pure rage. Having witnessed F.Lucy hurt, then how she cries about how she lost everything on her original timeline, to see her right hand missing where Natsu knew Lucy's Right-hand is very important to her (that's why they showed the flashback of the time she first recieved her guildmark), then finally her death. It's way too much even for Natsu. Also, her right arm holds too much importance to Lucy. Aside from it being the bearer of the guildmark, it also helps her write her letters to her mom. Helped her write her book she dreamt of publishing. The hand she holds her keys. Every important things for Lucy are held by that hand.

My theory is that the timeline where future lucy comes from is the same day as the portal opened. She never closes that portal which explains why she had no idea that she did close it. And when all fairytail members died (except from her and Levy), she decided to use the portal to go back to present timeline. However, since she only had 10 keys, she might have used her own life force to compensate for the missing keys (the same way Layla did) and that maybe causes her to lose her arm. MAYBE On the other hand, future Rogue is from another different timeline where Lucy was able to close the Portal but it's also the same timeline where Frosch dies that led him to darkness.

You can say what you want about Fairy Tail, but not even the people badmouthing the series can deny that it knows how to pluck at the heartstrings. To add to the confusion sources: Maybe Fairy Tail operates on Multiverse Theory, which means F-Rogue and F-Lucy might come from different timelines, with one happening because of the actions of the other. Or Lucy will really close the gate - whether intentionally or by accident - thus causing Rogue to travel back in time. Or it could just be someone disguising themselves as Lucy, and F-Rogue falling for the trick - we've seen Mirajane and Gemini do that already, plus that filler character in the dancing episode. A very unlikely, but not entirely impossible variant would also be someone bringing Edolas Lucy to Earthland and her messing things up by accident... or maybe Edolas isn't the only parallel world, with lookalikes of Earthland people. It could be someone using mind-control on Lucy, forcing her to close the gate. Or F-Rogue might just be lying... or this "Rogue" might not actually be Rogue at all, but someone controlling him, disguised as him, or wearing his dead body like a suit. So many possibilities.

Future rogue and future lucy are from different timeline, rogue is from 7 years in the future where in that timeline in the past lucy closed the portal. And the future lucy is from the near future where they didn't know whats going to happen, they didn't know that the dragons will appear and the country will be destroyed, thats why the future lucy doesn't have the knowledge of eclipse 2, and in the first place that eclipse 2 is a bullshit by the future rogue anyways and the idiot princess didn't even think what is the possibilities might happen when they open the portal

Due to desperation, Rogue get the idea of going back to the present timeline where he needs to control the dragons that came out of the portal and hoping he could defeat Acnologia with it. Thus, he needs Lucy to not interfere with the portal.

GMG as enjoyable as it can be demonstrates Mashima's worst writing habit. Writing antagonists that behave like complete psychopaths then turning around and giving them redemptions or even just straight up absolving them of that behavior with nor rhyme or reason and expecting the viewer/reader to just accept it. And where previously there was at least something for us to latch on to (many of the previous villains were pulled into that life as children and never given a chance for anything else), Sabertooth are just awful dipshits for no good reason and we're asked to just take it as 'oh they're just competitive'. The Garrou Knights and the Minister are another example. He threw them in the death dungeon cause he was mad??!! And we're going to let that go just like that??!! What the actual fuck Mashima? It's honestly my biggest issue with the series.
