Fun Fact: when this episode first aired back in 2010 the subtitles in it weren't as precise and they transcribed one of the Sea Monster's phrases as "Steven Magnet", and it was because of that reason the Fandom started calling that character Steven Magnet... So much so in fact that the crew of the show eventually decided to officially name him that way xdd

Pinkie Pie is biggest question mark in all the MLP series and a favorite in all the fandom. Whenever we think she can't get any crazier, she always surprises us by bringing her craziness to an all new level, so you better just go along with whatever she does or says, because it's easier that way. But, don't think Pinkie is all laughter and silliness, because when she is down is when you know something is clearly not right. You can only come to love Pinkie even more as you watch the show. After her, the craziest character is still up to be revealed.

The season 1 2 parter instantly became a great start for the FIM series! And even though she was defeated and turned back into Princess Luna, Nightmare Moon is still one of my all time favorite mlp villains to this day!!!

funny you mentioned that "all part of the plan" bit. since it was. the general rule for Celestia through out the show is, anything celestia does, or doesn't do, is for a reason. she's basically pony Xanatos or palpatine (even funnier as the end party scene was a parody of the end of star wars episode 1. the same scene where palpatine mentions to anakin how he'll "be watching his career with great interest"). pretty much the entire plot of the pilot was her plan. she arranged the summer sun celebration to be in the town near her old home, where she knew her sister would return to first. she arranged for twilight (her best student) to be there. she released luna from her prison in the moon (the stars will aid in her escape. but stars are just suns that are further away, and who controls the sun?). there were other parts to it, but those bits are revealed in later episodes. the creator of the show put alot of thought into the over arching plot of the show.

Honestly, you went into way too much detail. All that really matters is that they wait until season 4 if they want to watch EQG, until the start of season 6 before watching Friendship Games and until they have watched the opening of season 8 before watching Rainbow Roadtrip. Everything else can be watched at any time past those points.

As someone who first discovered MLP back in Gen1 (different iterations are Gen 1, Gen 2, etc, Friendship is Magic is Gen 4) back when she was a little girl, and who knows EXACTLY how cheesy and awful Gen 3 was, let me say that the start of Gen 4, with actual plot, characterization, and stakes, was like comparing a five year old's rambling story to a finished novel. And that being said. Season 1 is very much the worst season of FiM. Knowing what is to come, looking back at season one and it's definitely cheesy and episodic. Imagine how good this show gets as it continues, for a fan from the very beginning to say this.

I teach you some English, you teach me some Spanish? ;) As for the series: Yeah, season 1 is a bit slow paced, because its purpose was to introduce the viewer to the world, let us get familiar with all the characters, and it focuses mostly on establishing their friendship. But it will all pay off in season 2 already, and with every next season, the show is getting better and better ;) To some people, season 1 still has its charm though, because it was simpler and more mundane, and there are people who like it that way.
