All but the title page of Sousa’s band score of this unpublished march has been on file at the Library of Congress for many years. Sousa’s daughter Priscilla had placed it in a folder with the first page of “The Wildcats,” thinking the manuscripts belonged together and that they were the march called “Kansas Wildcats.” Such was not the case, however. Later, a complete piano score of the untitled march turned up, but this manuscript, too, bore no title. Thus, the intended recipient of the march may never be known.
The colossal mix-up involving this untitled march and various marches called “The Wildcats,” “Kansas Wildcats,” “The Sword of San Jacinto,” “Universal Peace,” and “The Gridiron Club” is evidence of the fact that the titles of Sousa’s marches were sometimes changed before the marches were published.

It's an excellent march which we can be very grateful hear the strains of. Interested the second strain is unrepeated in this version, the Keith Brion Royal Artillery Band version plays it twice; wonder how JPS intended it? Am I alone though in thinking the trio sounds a LOT like Boy Scouts of America though?

No, you’re not alone. Listened to both the marches’ Trios and they do sound similar. Probably in the same key signature or something.

If the tunes aren’t borrowed from something else, as with the Mikado March using some of the better-known ones from The Mikado, anything seems possible. I like Wall Street Journal March but it could be anything else too!

BTW, how many marches DID Sousa write? A YT option is for volumes 1-7 in the USMCB recordings and it shows 129 videos. These recordings are the ultimate collection - who better to record them than Sousa's Own??
