Aussie here. There is no MSG of Australia. We just use MSG. Chicken salt is not used like MSG. Chicken salt is just salt with a little extra flavour. In Australia we have charcoal chicken shops in most establiished suburbs. That and fish and chips places are probably the only places you will find chicken salt. Many places don't even use it to marinade their chicken, it's just something a lot of people like to put on their chips instead of salt as it adds extra herby flavours. Chicken salt is just salt and herbs, sometimes it might contain MSG, but the good brands don't. Although we don't put chicken salt on steaks normally, i did recently and it was very very flavoursome, just not the best flavours to complement steak in my opinion.... BTW if we need MSG we go buy MSG. We have a huge Chinese population here with several Chinese restaurants and a Chinese stores in a lot of areas. Chicken salt is nothing more than a dry rub that was specifically created to complement chicken.

Australian here - I'm sorry to say, that is nowhere near an Aussie pie. First you used filet whereas we use the cheaper cuts like chuck because of the fat and collagen that breaks down when stewing the meat to make it rich and tasty. Two - the best pies have a shortcrust base/ shell, which adds to structural rigidity and stops the pie falling apart in your hands. Only the lid of the pie will be puff or flakey pastry. Oh, and gourmet pies may add a touch of Vegemite to the stewed meats to add a boost of umami. Also - with the steaks - you should not have added salt/ pepper/ garlic powder to the chicken salt steak - just the chicken salt would have been enough and might have changed the result.

We don't put chicken salt on steak, or chicken, or any meats for that matter (I mean, I'm sure _someone_ has done it, but it's not "a thing" in Australia). It just goes on hot chips (fries), potato scallops, and other deep-fried bits and pieces from takeaway shops - like those giant dim-sims, spring rolls and chiko rolls. Those little meat pies, the filling seems reasonable enough, but if you put sugar on top, any self respecting Australian would throw it at your face. If you want to know what the "Australian MSG" is, it's simply MSG... Other than that, some chefy tips used for enhancing those deep umami flavours of stews and the like, is to add things like a dash of soy sauce or Marmite - so being Australian we would use Vegemite instead of Marmite. But that's hardly something done by a majority of Australians. Covering an entire steak in chicken salt like that (as well as having already liberally seasoned it with regular salt) would be disgusting. Just _waaay_ too salty

I've never known anyone in my 34 years of life to use this on anything other than battered/crumbed Fried foods or Hot Chips. Also, a pie with icing sugar is bloody weird, never heard of that.. 😂😂😂😂 Either something got lost in translation or your Ozzie mates pulled a fast one over you Guga. A mince pie is an british desert pie with mince meat that has that powdered sugar over the top. A meat pie is 100% savoury pie. They are also double the size of those tiny pies. Similar to a shepards pie… Although we do make them out of drop bears traditionally which is a much more tender softer meat.

I don't think you got one thing right here Guga. We don't use chicken salt on steak. The brand you're using there while may be the original is not the good stuff. Meat pies aren't a dessert and definitely don't have powdered sugar on them.

As an aussie, this is a travesty. The experiment is good, but he soaked it in salt. Plus, the pies do not EVER have powdered sugar on them. Tomato, or barbeque sauce, only

As an Aussie, that much Chicken Salt on that steak, scared me. It has a strong flavour that is best used with care. I have that exact brand in my pantry. Fantastic on chips.

Chicken Salt is delectable on almost anything deep fried. We do not use it on meats. Great video.
@SiegeDestroyer2 күн бұрын
Powder sugar on a pie, may as well just dry age it in vegemite and serve with the vegemite still on. If you want to do justice to a pie, tomato sauce: it contains a little bit of sugar which adds a very low sweetness and tang to the pie. BBQ sauce is an acceptable alternate.

A question to people around the world. When guga does your country, does he destroy your food too? Also chicken salt is not a staple here in Australia. We literally only put in on Chips. And people are 50/50 on it..

Australian here. Chicken salt is used on fried potatoes, so chips/fries, potato cakes/scallops/fritters (depending which state you live in), and maybe tater tots, but I have never had chicken salt on a steak. That is way too much chicken salt for anything to be edible. It’s an alternative to salt. It’s in the name. Also, who taught you how to make a meat pie? The ingredients in the gravy sauce are wrong. soy sauce? It’s supposed to have tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce and red wine. And sugar on top?! That’s supposed to be tomato sauce/ketchup. Mate, you have made a whole country ashamed. Also, short crust pastry for the base, puff pastry for the lid.

Yeah sounds impossible, yet with Maria Luisa Clare, I've come to the conclusion that financially anything is possible. I got my self my dream car 🚗 just last weekend and a whooping $320k in savings already, My journey with her started after my best friend came back from New York and saw me suffering in debt then told me about her and how to change my life through her. Maria L Clare is the kind of person one needs in his or her life! I got a home, a good wife, and a beautiful daughter. Note!:: this is not a promotion but me trying to make a point that no matter what happens, always have faith and keep living!!

WTF is that 'meat pie'? I'm an aussie baker. We don't put bloody tomato sauce in or powdered sugar on it! It's basically gravy, mince meat and chunks of steak.
@exinferios2 күн бұрын
Ketchup and "tomato sauce" are interchangeable in this situation. For those in the US, we think of tomato sauce as Italian style tomato sauce like for pizza and pasta.

Hi Guga May I politely make some suggestions 1.) Do over the episode 2.) use Chicken salt , pepper and garlic powder only 3.) meat pies but make ketchup instead of powdered sugar 4.) try using chicken salt to season a a whole Turkey for deep frying Or seasoning a whole Turkey with chicken salt and rotisserie roast it over charcoal basting it with the chicken salt compound butter

"They all said" - who's they? They're dead wrong. Chicken salt is for chips/fries or pretty much anything that's deep fried - nothing else. Also - No icing/powdered sugar on meat pies.
