True…English speaking South Africans! We did our bit. Nobody can tell me Afrikaans speaking were better when the ‘shit hit the fan’. It depended on the individual! Some coped and some didn’t on both language sides. Although English speaking, some Afrikaans dudes were very good friends. Doepie my buddy PT partner must have been at least 10kg heavier than me, so Buddy PT a breeze for him, not me 😂 Oh yes. Mid year intake ‘79-‘81 at 8 SAI Upington, and also joined the 81’s ( mortars ).
