This video focuses on Cape and Transvaal marriage records, but the same basic principles apply to both Natal and the Free State

Matthew why don't you use split screens instead of clicking tabs?

You should make more on screen appearances . I guess it just feels better looking at an actual face sometimes also it would be nice if you did a video on "who you are" you know like how did you grow up ? , how has finding out that you have some African ancestry made you feel and how did it make others around react to you ?

Thanks for this! Finding your videos really helpful. Only, I'm a bit stumped with my case of a marriage/divorce certificate dated 1980 - transvaal. I have found the document number on national archives but how do I actually obtain it?

+Nicole Struwig - So glad you are finding the videos helpful! Unfortunately no divorce files for South Africa have been made available online as yet, and it will probably be a fair while before you see any files as recent as 1980 available online. I use a private researcher to get retrieve my archival files that aren't available online, their fees are very reasonable. Just shoot me an email at matthewmarkbode@gmail.com if you would like their contact details. :)
