South African Police passing out parade July 1983 part 1

I’ve joined the South African Police 7 December 1982. This video was of my passing out parade 1 st July 1983 at the police college in Pretoria, South Africa. W403250W Platoon 14, Charlie Comp.

Only came across this a few days ago. Passed out as an officer on this parade. Even spotted my younger self. Feels like a lifetime ago. Thanks for posting this.

Fantastic recording. My passing out parade was in June 1979 Charlie company-platoon 17-force number 83886B . Great experience. Learned more about life in 3 years in the SAP than most of my friends did in 40 years! Discipline was extreme-but it worked.

Hi Walter, ja you right. I was 2 days out of matric and then into the force.A year before you,Jan '78 intake, platoon 21, Bravo company.Force no.W81593H.Will never forget it or my experiences in the force.By the time this recording was made, I was already out the force and in the Navy.We started out in the old berede block as the new accommodations were not ready yet.We moved over later.I grew up very quickly as I was only 19 at the time. I met and befriended a young afrikaans girl that was in the college the same time as me.She was such a pretty sweet kid, just as me, we were very young.Only time we could see each other was very briefly during saturday nights movies at that hall at the college and then on our weekend day pass.We used to write each other all the time and that was so strange as we were only about 300m apart.She's the one that got away as we parted friends and went our separate ways ten years later.I was in the Navy then and she still in the police, a Captain at that time.Ja so what can I say, let her slip through my fingers.A real sweet kid.Ja so I have very sweet memories of the college. Passing out parade was 14th july 1978.

Three years later it would be my turn. Many many years later im close to retirement. Ive persevered. 😂 The discipline went down the drain years ago.
