Lee Greenwood is the older gentleman who started the song. He wrote it in the 80’s and it’s been a huge hit for him. The other men who were not in uniform are from the group Home Free. They are a tremendous a cappella group (no instruments) who sing all genres of music. They’ve sung this song before and Lee wanted to do another rendition so he called Home Free and they contacted the US Air Force Singing Sergeants and they were in uniform. This was during Covid so they weren’t together. The bass of Home Free (Texas) has a very low voice and can sing super low. The beatboxer was doing the drum sounds with his mouth. So glad you enjoyed it. It’s one of my favorites!!! 🥰

When I was in boot camp at Great Lakes in '87 , I'd go to the Church service on Sunday. They would play this song, I don't think singing along I ever got thru it without gettin' choked up. It made me realize how Blessed I was to be American. Lee came out with this song when we needed a shot in the arm of Patriotism

Cute note: the guy who sang the line "From the lakes of Minnesota" is Rob Lundquist and he is from Minnesota. The guy who sang "Across the plains of Texas" is Tim Foust, who is from Texas. I have to believe they planned it that way 😊.

Yes, it was planned. 👍😉 Actually, each person who recognized a state by name is really from that state...and Adam Chance, the guy who sang, "from sea to shining sea" was born/raised on the Gulf coast and now lives in California (on the west coast)! Pretty cool, huh? 💞😍

Home Free is a very patriotic group too. The bass singer from Texas, Tim Foust has written an original patriotic song that would be fun to react to as well. Its called Land Of The Free. He was the one who suggested adding the Singing Sargeants to this collaboration with Lee Greenwood. Btw, did you hear the sound of a jet flyover at the end? That is one talented beatboxer in Home Free, Mr. Adam Rupp one of the founders of this group.

Jono, America is more of an "ideal" or "way to live" than a land in my humble opinion. Being an American is that ideal. It is the breath in our chest, the heart beating, it is the sun rising and the sun setting and every single choice and action you take! You have every right to feel patriotic to that same ideal. If you are a good person, with a good heart, who wishes for the best for others......you got it! It does not matter where you were born, or where you live.....it is how you choose to live every single moment of each day that makes the difference!

Wow, I really agree with that. It isn't a land, really, or a race. It is a group of people who share certain ideals. In fact if the institutional "United States of America" were to ever go away, there will always be some group of people who still have those values and who are ready to fight and die for them. And then there will be another "USA." It truly is in the heart. Thank you for your comment, Darice.

At 65 years old, having National Pride isn't what it was when I was younger! It makes my heart swell with love for these men, who not only SING this song masterfully, but with meaning for every line in it! Lee Greenwood, Sir, you are a Master at songwriting and sing your words beautifully! The combination of these three groups is sheer perfection and I am taken back to much better times, when America was a much better place! The people themselves haven't changed! But, the Federal Government has left the people! For all of you really good Democrats; please stop voting your heart and vote with some common sense! We need to get America back on the right track! We need to be the Country that our forefathers prayed for and believed we would be! We need to remember what we have lived through and put GOD back in our schools and COUNTRY! WE must be a COUNTRY with borders and stop this insanity that the WOKE MINORITY, who would like for us to believe that they are the MAJORITY, is trying very decietfully to cram down our throats! DO NOT believe them! There are only a handful of them but they are loud and crude! This makes the world believe that is what AMERICA is made up of! Well! It is NOT! Let us, with GOD'S help, get back to the America of Thomas Jefferson and the men, who so valiantly stood up for Freedom; who so valiantly stood up for the dream of AMERICA! This lovely song, with every beautiful note, describes what America was and still is! Thank you for a wonderfully heartfelt reaction! It is right on target and very appreciated!

Ok, Glad you enjoyed the song, The man you like that sang about TX, is Tim Foust, of the A Cappella group, Home Free. Tim is one of few bass sings that can go that low. Just misses the last few keys on the low end of a full piano. Tim sings 5 octaves. Tim has broke speakers, live on stage. The group is great. There was no interment's used in this song. It was all the groups voices, including the drums. Adam Rupp the beat boxer. Go lesion to, Man of Constant Sorrow. A good way to start with them. Another would be Johnny Cashes, Ring of Fire. You will get stuck on them, and lots of help from the Home Fries, Their following. Tims low stuff. Go hear, Brothers in Arms, You will feel it through the song.

Jono when i hear you speak of wide open spaces, and self reliance, patriotism, the pride of working with your hands... immigrants with your attitude is what made this country great. Whether Asian, African, European, Latino.. the hunger and desire to make it on your own, is why we welcome 1,000,000 people every year. We embrace those who bring rugged individualism, yet will stand shoulder to shoulder to defend our way of life.

The first one that sang is the awesome Lee Greenwood, the guys mostly with beards is the group "Home Free" and the rest are our soldiers....there is NO music - all the background is done by the singers of Home Free!!! This song always gives me goosebumps - it's played during fireworks EVERY 4th of July! GOD BLESS THE USA!!!

This is one of my favorite songs and this version immediately took the top spot. The younger guys that aren't in uniform are the A Capella group Home Free and are probably the most talented musicians I've ever seen. This version had no instruments. The percussion and even the jet flyover sound at the end were all the vocal percussionist Adam Rupp from the group. If you're impressed by them, they have so many songs and videos available on KZbin. It's a rabbit hole I never regretted finding. Thank you for your reaction!

I am an American and this is my first time catching your channel. As a veteran of the United States Army (Military Police and Infantry) I was a little shocked that people criticized you for pausing when reacting to the national anthem of the United States (The Star Spangled Banner). It is not disrespectful to pause to comment on something you are hearing in a performance of any national anthem. Especially when that is what you do on your channel. I would fully expect to need to pause several times during the South African National Anthem in order for me to understand the languages and musical structures of the song. Respecting, or disrespecting, is what is said during the pauses and not the pauses themselves. I thoroughly enjoyed your reaction. I agree with your comment about the world perhaps being a better place if we all were, or at least could be, proud of the country we call home. It might just mean that national governments are doing what they should be doing. Not that any country is going to be perfect, but it would be a great thing if the goal was to be better.

When I went through US Navy Basic training in Great Lakes in 1996. The Drill Instructors played this to us while we were working together on PT. It broke the toughest of us down and we sang this together in tears. Stands out to me as the moment we came together as US Navy Sailors and what we were here for. A coming together moment that broke us away from who we were when we arrived to who we would be as the defenders of our nation. God Bless the USA!

That is the point actually. Everyone should be proud of where they come from. Celebrating different cultures only makes your life richer. Here in America we have the gift of many cultures to experience and benefit from, and our children get to enjoy festivals from around the World right in their own neighborhood when neighbors share their heritage. The more you appreciate your homeland, the more you can appreciate someone else's. Thanks for the reaction.

The old version of Lee Greenwood singing this song is played every year at our towns 4th of July Fireworks display and everyone in the crowd knows it and sings along with it, it’s so moving to hear everyone singing together all around the Lake and it’s echoing off the walls of the lake, it’s wonderful! Such a beautiful song, God is our strength in this Country, God has made us what we are because we listened to Him but we’ve fallen away from God here and I’m afraid the USA will fall from within if we do not get back to God morally, faithfully, and for guidance in this Country.❤️✝️❤️

This is actually a video by Home Free, an A cappella country vocal band who collaborated with Lee Greenwood, the original artist who wrote and performed this song back in the 80's, and also featured the Singing Sergeants of the U.S. Air Force Band. This was the A cappella version, no musical instruments, off Lee's original. This was done during the pandemic lockdowns, hence the different locations of the performers.

One of the things that changed about my husband after serving two combat tours in the Middle East is that whenever we stand for the National Anthem now, tears stream down his face. We are blessed to be American citizens, despite that fact that we are going through a few road bumps as a country right now.
