It's not stinkiest, but has the strongest aroma/smell compared to other fruits. You can't compare the smell with other things. Durian is in it's own league. I love durians so much even the king of jungle 🐯 eats durian.

Well done for trying the durian fruit. When I was a young kid i hated it and will gag everytime i smell it. But hey the more you try it, it grows in you. For beginners I always thought the “red prawn” was the easiest to eat as it is very sweet. Maybe you should try if the crave comes huanting you! Hahahaha...

👍🏼 👍🏼 👍🏼... Luckily you try the good quality one. Most of people didnt like durian because they try that not good quality one. Musang King, Black Thorn, IOI is one of good quality one. There a lot of variety of durians... Make sure you get a good one. Dont take the one that texture too softer one like got water in it, that one is old one and not fresh one. The one that wrinkle texture is taste bitter n sweet. The one that smooth texture one is more sweet n sometimes got only a bit bitter. Now July 2021 is durians season in Malaysia

Durian is definitely an acquired taste and one just needs to persevere. I’d kill for some now, but because of the pandemic, I can’t visit Singapore and indulge in this King of Fruits. I hope to be able to in the not too distant future.

Actually the price you paid does not guaranteed if the durian is that good. You need to come during the durian season. During this season, you do not need to pay $38 to get good durian. It will be in abundance n you could get good durian even if you just pay $10 or less.

Most South East Asians dont like blue cheese but I love it. Difference is durian is best tasted fresh but blue cheese has to be 'rotten' to be at its best. Sour durians are stale ones. So get the trader to replace it especially if you paid dear. Durians should be like creamy, stiff custard textured, sweet, and slightly bitter. The taste profile is complex. The best/worst is Musang King variety...you either hooked or disgusted for life and the hereafter. Try Thai durians if you have a pussy palate.

intheworldofmari , to have good durian, wait for the durian season: Durian season is supposed to be twice a year. Those that u see everyday ,at geylang , it’s lousy durian. In what ways is it lousy? 1) they are modified version, many from Thailand instead of Malaysia. 2) they are taste of pesticide/chemical. Your tongue will feel weird. 3) a good mau san wang durian Is supposed to be bitter, very creamy/ sticky. And u can literally eat 2-3 whole fruit and u will not be sick of it. And the husk should be attracting flies after that. Nowadays, u don’t see flies flying near the shells. 4) the durian u chosen, do u notice the $3-5 box colour looks like $25 one. Durian are supposed to look different. One look at the flesh, u will know it’s D24, MSW, etc. Once u really tasted a good durian, u will not patronise those stalls again:
