Do they prefer black water tanks,, with lots of tannins. I have two spotted leaf fish and would love to add an Amazon as I found them at my local store for $40USD. They appear to be more of chill calm fish so scared about my high current filter and some of the other tank mates he would live with. Featherfin, bichir, 3 angels.

I would love to get a leaf fish but I can't find information on how much and how often to feed them. I know they only eat live food but I don't know if it's one guppy a day or 3 guppies 3 times a week.

They do eat a lot ! I fed mine daily with mainly live Mysis shrimps, maybe to the equivalent amount of about 6-8 male or 4-5 female guppy per fish!

do you try converting the fry to pellets ?
@tropicalfishlover3 жыл бұрын
They are predators and in nature only eat live food like small fish and shrimps! .... but they do eat frozen shrimps if they are dropped as whole pieces directly in front of the fish, as it triggers their attack instinct! They will not eat small broken pieces of shrimps, worms or other meat, and dry food like pellets they won´t even look at!

What are Your water parámeters for this fish?
@tropicalfishlover3 жыл бұрын
No Hokus Pokus just collected fresh rainwater, normal temp around 25-27C and added some dried old twigs from Oak Tree with attached dry leaves to get "black water" and pH around 5,5-6.

WTF i thought this fish can't spawn in aquarium
@tropicalfishlover3 жыл бұрын
Not easy to sex them as they are identical , but once you got a pair and you have small live fish or shrimps to feed them they will readily spawn!

Frequent waterchanges is essential as well at least 50% per week!
