South Carolina and Georgia Road Trip Van Life: Healing Springs SC, Santa Claus GA, Jesup worst smell

We are on an East Coast USA road trip down Route 1, traveling from Maine to Florida in our converted 2013 Ford Transit Connect Micro Camper van. We start the day in South Carolina as we visit the God's Acres Healing Springs, then we stop in the town of Santa Claus, Georgia. On our way across Georgia to get to Cumberland Island we drive through an area called Jesup. We were shocked at the smell coming from this area!

You are right! We absolutely are not meaning to disrespect the people who live and work there, we just could not believe that the company is allowed to have that much of an impact on the area and environment. We read many articles from the locals also commenting on how the company was negatively affecting the area. However, unfortunately it is not just in Jesup, even where we live in Western New York we know of plants who would much rather pay the fine for their pollution than fix the issues. Hopefully we can all work towards holding companies more accountable.

i would love to take on an adventure like this but how much did it cost for everything? (the van ,build and etc) what jobs on the road is great for income?

Hi- Thank you for your response! We will work on getting that information together for you regarding the van build and our travel expenses (we will have to go back and look everything up!) The great thing about the Ford Transit Connect is it is one of the more affordable vans to be able to convert. Most that we were looking at were around $5,000- $7000 with some even under $5000 depending on how many miles you are looking for! I think we ended up paying just over $6,000 for ours with about 90,000 miles on it. As far as the build itself you can really make it as cheap or expensive as you would like! We will have to get back to you on the exact amount we spent :) And as far as great jobs for on the road.... we are still trying to find that out ourselves haha so I guess we are all in this together! We still work in the office (we took 2 weeks vacation time for Rt.1) but have been actively looking for remote jobs. The good thing is there are so many out there for basic customer service and data entry. Will will have to keep you updated when we find something ourselves!
