I moved to Dillon County from CT three years ago and cannot believe how fast people drive on these rural routes. We need to lower speed limits statewide and have enough law enforcement to enforce them. Be great if there was a “breakdown” lane on the sides of the roads too to give drivers more time to recover. I am a very safe driver but all it takes is a second of distraction and you’re already off the road and on the embankment.

People drive 80 in a 55 in CT. I lived up there for a few years. Lowering speed limits is ineffective if the limit is below the 85% mean average speed and only serves to turn the road into a speed trap.

As a rule you should less than ten past the speed limit.
