Promotions at work are not based on merit only. The charismatic employees who represent themselves well are assumed able to represent others as well, and usually fare better in work and life. Paige is a far better public speaker who is really into social justice and philanthropy. Boston comes off as cool if not snobbish, and her heroic immigrant backstory is careworn and tiring. Looks matter. Before you blame Paige for her immutable characteristics, remember Boston's size is the result of genetics.
