South Downs 50km Ultramarathon (Maverick Race, Adidas Terrex X Series)

The South Downs 50km is a race put on by Maverick Race as part of their Adidas Terrex X series.
Hosted at the Goodwood Racecourse in Chichester, South England, runners get a choice of four routes including the 51km ultra, the 43km long, the 25km middle, and the 15km short. I, along with 140 other runners, opted for the ultra route.
Having booked this a few days before the race took place, I didn't really know what to expect but I was excited to again put on my trail shoes and explore some of the South Downs finest trails and hills. Here's how I got on.

Great video and a well executed race Craig. I'm not personally sure about PB's at ultra running events as they are all so different but i can relate to PB's on the SAME course. I appreciate this makes me sound like a bitter middle age runner.. i guess that's exactly what i am! 🤣

Thanks Phil, really enjoyed this one! I totally get what you mean about PBs and ultras not really mixing. All the courses are completely different, as is the terrain. Also, the weather on the day can make a difference. That being said, people when setting PBs more than in ultras. Maybe because there's less variability. Basically, on paper it's a PB but I know it's not comparing apples with apples so totally agree with you mate 😅 PB with a big pinch of salt!
