Shots of native huts, boys playing with a dog, rickshaws, horse-drawn carts; stagecoach speeding about, going through a massive archway, women playing Chinese version of tennis, square filled with people, market displays. Many people are looking at the camera, shop-lined street, pedestrians. Shots of people inside shop, Peking, square, pedestrians, rickshaws. Shots of progression featuring a statue being carted past the camera, square, many people milling about, vendor's display in middle of square. Shot of crowded room seen through open front - communal kitchen, steaming vats, people going in and out, front of dwelling, a vendor stops in front of it with his wares, passersby stop and buy, occupant of house comes out and buys as pedestrians approach, salute one another and go on. A water carrier enters house, comes out.

This is pre 1911, not 1920-29. There are no bicycles, not a single car, and all the men wear queues. Film clips from the 1920 show a very different urban China.

The time should be in Qing dynasty in or before 1911 because male hairstyle had queue. China is in East Asia/North East Asia, not SE Asia. People at 1:41 looked like Japanese.

@@xiongnu6373 Foreigners were not welcome to settle and build neighborhoods in the style of their home country in Qing dynasty China except in treaty concessions. It is far more likely that the footage is from Japan.

James, didn't the Japanese put in the ex emperor in Manchuria? He was installed as a puppet emperor. So back then Manchuria had tons of Japanese

@@colindong7316 There are also many old Manchurian footages, they are not fully Japaneseized. Every detail of this video shows that this is native Japan

This is clearly Beijing from 1900-1912, not the 1920/1929, all people wore queues, craft technology bureau (工艺局),built in 1900,It was abolished in 1912....1:41-2:00 was native Japan, not China
